VR headset is to completely immerse you into the game's environment. i.e. that demo Sony did with being in the shark cage underwater, if you were to try that you're suppose to feel like you're actually in it of course.

I want to try it as since I was a kid VR ideas always felt futuristic. I worry about simulation sickness, but still just want to see what it is like.

It's not a passive aggressive attack, it's just that the limited experience I've had with "immersive technology" had been really meh. I get nothing from it because I was never hyped for it, whereas people I know did it and wouldn't shut up about how great it was.

I guess I've just convinced that it's like a form of hypnosis.

Or better yet, I think I had the perfect comparison: Those booths at science museums that you put your hand into and it shows a hand getting pricked with sharp objects and you're supposed to feel it or freak out when it gets cut off. When I went to those back in school we had classmates that would scream bloody murder and one even passed out, whereas myself and a few others didn't notice anything.

That and it's pretty useless with the majority of games.

I've done a bunch of these sorts of rides they have over at Disney. It's a different experience. It blocks out everything else. The game world is in your peripheral vision. Everything seems more immediate. It's neat. Having said that, I don't see myself using this for long game sessions.

It looks to me that you dont really want to hear people's opinions on it and you just want to let the world know how you feel about it. If you hate "stupid sh*t" on your face so much, then just don't try it. Simple.

Can someone explain to me the appeal of advancements in gaming?

imagining watching porn with it. It be like you are actually doing without having to be there. but in all seriousness it puts you there in the game . Makes you feel like you are that protagonist in that game
