People think it will be some kind of .HACK / SwordArtOnline thing.

But its just a helmet that moves the ingame camera when you move your head. (with stereoscopic 3D)


The hype is at least 20 years to early.

No clue what .HACK is, but the big immersion factor comes from the 110 degree field of view with an image that appears to be far away, as opposed to 15 to 30 degrees people normally watch their tv at. Even without moving your head that field of view filling image has a physical effect on you.

The hype is indeed a bit early, anything under 4K will look blurry or pixelated, 8K would be about comparable to how 1080p looks now on TV. The immersion factor and physical effect is still there however.

Are these fucking reactions real Oo ? Or marketing bullshit ? Has someone here already tried it out ?

You missed my point. I'm all for VR, I want a true VR experience more than anybody. I just think that our current VR capabilities are pretty lackluster compared to the hype they receive. I try the same VR demos as everyone else, and I'm left scratching my head as to why all these other people are putting on theatrics and acting as it was a life altering experience.

It lead to the hypothesis I made in this thread: People who are excited for it are more susceptable to the suggestion of the experience.  Just like you can hypnotize someone who's open to the thought. I look at an occulus and see early stage progress that will seem crude in a few more years and everyone else acts like the future is here. Who do you think is more immersed into the experience?

Part overreaction, but likely from inexperience rather than playing up for the camera.

I have both the oculus rift DK1 and DK2, people that have used them here have rnged from tilting their head around, to all out learning and swaying.
