Forums - Nintendo - Help needed, using game cube games.

I just picked up my first game cube game second hand to use on the wii, it's working fine. The only thing I am not sure about is this, once I have finished playing can I get back to the wii menu without switching of the power?

I  expected to be able to re activate the wiimote and press home but while the game cube game is running it will not register the wiimote.

Any help would be welcome.

I don't know. Give me a minute.

Just tried it and it doesn't work. I think you might have to walk over and turn it off manually.

No, you can't. The Gamecube games are not using emulation but a "real Gamecube" inside the Wii. (GC's hardware is built into the Wii, that's why you need to use GC controllers/memorycards).

After it is switched on as GC it doesn't recognize Wii anymore and you need to switch it off to get back to the Wii menu.

Can you press reset?

no reset will just reset the cube game.

Once u launch a cube game on the wii for all purposes the wii becomes a gamecube.

I.e has no net, no internal memory.

it only recognises the cube memory cards and the cube controllers.

Just like if u hit the reset on a cube it would reset and the same game would re-load its exactly the same thing if playing a cube game on the wii and you press reset.

Thanks for the response. It's a shame but at least I have access to a whole generation of games I did not get to try & at a bargain price to.

Not just one generation, but 4 generations with the VC games!

you have to push the reset button to get back to the main menu.

Actually Wii uses variable-clockspeed processors, so when entering the "GC mode", it lowers the clockspeed of CPU and GPU to 485 and 162 MHz and is only one GameCube duct-taped together. O_O
