its not that interesting, when you realize that Nintendo hasn't been sending a continuous supply of Wii to every region



 

Predictions:Sales of Wii Fit will surpass the combined sales of the Grand Theft Auto franchiseLifetime sales of Wii will surpass the combined sales of the entire Playstation family of consoles by 12/31/2015 Wii hardware sales will surpass the total hardware sales of the PS2 by 12/31/2010 Wii will have 50% marketshare or more by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!!  It was a little over 48% only)Wii will surpass 45 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!!  Nintendo Financials showed it fell slightly short of 45 million shipped by end of 2008)Wii will surpass 80 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2009 (I was wrong!! Wii didn't even get to 70 Million)

It still shows quite a bit of positive change for the Wii.

I think it would be better interrupreted as a monthly graph.

Hmm, out of holiday season, the Wii topped at 318K last year, and that was the only one above 300K.

Wow the Wii is kicking it own arse as well. I thought it might of been strugglin this year but it's doing pretty well right now. 45m by the end of 08, here we come(maybe 50m).

the supply goes up and down each week, so one week u have a +200k and the next a +20k

 Actually the weekly totals are nice for exactly the reason you just mentioned. Anyone who looks at it will easily see that supply is spotty and insuficient maybe even more so than last year. It makes it frustrating for prediction sake, but with all those issues they have only been below last year once.



Final* Word on Game Delays:

The game will not be any better or include more content then planned. Any commnets that say so are just PR hogwash to make you feel better for having to wait.

Delays are due to lack of proper resources, skill, or adequate planning by the developer.

Do be thankful that they have enough respect for you to delay the game and maintain its intended level of quality.

Wow! The same time last year, Wii sold 4862K. This year it sold 7522K! That is a solid increase! And as it was sold out during whole last year too, and that means the production has gone up with about 55%, which is totally insane!

It is probably more than that too, since they had stockpiled for launch.

This tecnically means that Nintendo had thought the Wii would sell less that half of what it has (since they thought it would dip a bit), and therefore, they were prepared for a 3rd place.


And Avi, why is it a problem that he ignored the supply issues? According to you, they are always going to be there, and therefore production increase is the only matter, which also means that his post was correct.

You know, it is acceptable that the other consoles are doing good too, you know. After all, 3489K more so far is pretty amazing. The Wii did a 2555K (abouts) increase.

What you are doing, is excluding the Europe fact when looking at total sales, AND including it when it favours your "statistics".
