I agree with a lot with what he is saying as they both have nothing that have caught my eye other than remasters from 7th gen games.

PS4 is still better

People are trying awfully hard to prove that games which doesn't feature a cartoon style character are the same, huh? I do admit that makes me chuckle.

It's kind of pitiful, isn't it? This need by a few Nintendo fans to marginalize anything that they don't have? Yeah, we know you don't have a Halo or an Uncharted or a God of War or a Sunset Overdrive but how can anyone think those games are the same? That's silly and you know it.

Sure. As Halo, Uncharted, God of War have seen their first title released on the HD-Twins, it is of course not possible to have something with XBox 360 or PS3 graphics running on the Wii U.

It is also known fact that revisiting any of these games on the XBox 360 or PS3 is not fun at all as the gameplay experience suffers that much from not having up to date graphics.

If this is the case - you know what - then I just don't need Halo, Uncharted, GoW, CoD or whatever didn't get released on the Wii U as its core mechanics and gameplay just don't offer enough value to me and most of the other Wii U owners.

I think we'd both love to have that information but we simply don't have it. Microsoft would only want to share that information if it was flattering to xbox one which it is not. I don't think you're actually suggesting that with this new price drop Microsoft is making money on xbox one sales?

I'm gonna repeat a previous post. Buying a console is a commitment. There's no possible way you're going to buy a console and not buy any software for it. Especially with it being an Xbox because its a fact that Xbox Owners buy the most games. That combined with profit from Xbox Live, controllers, Kinects, anything bought through Xbox Music/Video makes any price cut easily recovered.

True that Xbox owners buy the most of the game sales are 3rd party games which I believe Microsoft only receives 30% of the revenue from. The vast majority of game sales on the wiiu are first party games where Nintendo doesn't have to share the revenue. Nintendo is also set to benefit from amiibo sales which I expect to become a larger business than skylanders. We know that in the past when unit share has been similar like the original xbox versus the gamecube Nintendo made money and microsoft lost big. In this generation Microsoft will sell many more units than Nintendo which will make their losses less severe but but even if Microsoft outsells Nintendo hardware 3 to 1 I wouldn't be surprised if Microsoft makes less money than Nintendo. All reggie is suggesting is that he feels more comfortable with a differeniated product. Sony and Microsoft have the spend  alot more in advertising and take many financial risks which Nintendo doesn't have to take as a result. Nintendo doesn't need to spend billions on advertising and doesn't need to do knee jerk price cuts because on a micro level they don't have a direct competitor. They don't have some other company out there which has 90% of the same games as they do to compete against. On a Macro level Nintendo has many competitors spanning from Apple and Amazon to Microsoft and Sony. I think you'd be very hard pressed to make a case that Nintendo would be better off competing directly against Sony and Microsoft. Nintendo is clearly better off with a differentiated product right now since they can't fall back on office and windows sales to weather a storm. Ask sega how competing directly worked out for them.

You can't compare Xbox's 1st gen losses to what Xbox One is doing.

It makes sense to take losses when you're starting a console in 2001 aquiring developers and making games with 3rd party devs. Even with all those losses the Xbox made a name for itself with marketshare and that is a success. The 360 launched and then made tons of money for Microsoft and still is making money for Microsoft.

I don't really know where you're getting this information from. My understanding is that Xbox 360 lost billions of dollars and then by the end made a little bit of money but overall lost money.  The division is currently making money but i believe this is mostly due to android revenue and surface pro profits.

The OG Xbox put the Xbox in the red and 360 has been selling on a profit for years.

Lets do a fact check - which is quite easy as there are not so many cross platform titles out there.

Skylanders and Disney Infinity are the biggest ones which are available on Wii U, XOne and PS4.

Everybody here can lookup the sales database and do the math.

Taking the last generation into account too the picture gets even more clear: its the Nintendo consoles which have the highest attach rates.

It hurts Skylanders big to not be able to release on the Wii anymore. As it has "grown up" on the Wii.

But it is simply astonishing how many they sell on the Wii U given the much smaller hardware base.

This tells something: any Third offering a unique experience appealing to Nintendos customer base can be successful.

They just have to tailor the experience instead of "just porting".

It speaks for itself that most developers either can't do that or have doubts in their ability to do that.

It tells that kids games sell on Nintendo consoles.

I have no idea what you're talking about.  That doesn't even make any sense and it's certainly not a "fact".  It sounds silly and made up.

I also don't care if you don't think anything that isn't made by Nintendo has any value.  That's personal opinion and fine with me.  Heck, I wouldn't pay $5 for another Mario platformer even if I owned a Wii U.

Actually, nothing you said has much to do with anything.

Yeah, but with the Xbox 3rd party games Microsoft don't have to pay for any of the expenses yet still get a cut of the revenue. Nintendo has to pay all the expenses for their 1st party games. If a 3rd party game flops on Xbox, Microsoft still make money from it. If a 1st party game flops on Nintendo, then Nintendo has lost money.

That is valid in theory. But the development cost of a 1st party Nintendo game is relatively low. I'd be surprised if Nintendo lost money on any first party wiiu games. Some of Nintendo's games have a large budget but these are rare. I could see Zelda U needing a couple million in sales to be profitable which it will easily acheive. I'm really surprised to see that people are trying to argue a case for xbox being more profitable. I thought it was a known fact to be a loss leader for microsoft which is way so many investers are calling for microsoft to sell off thier xbox division.

I

You clearly don't know what a fact is.

Just because you don't like PS360 games doesn't mean everybody else doesn't like them. Plenty of people still play older PS3/360 games and have tonnes of fun. Right now I'm playing a 360 game from 2008, it is great fun.

Oh. You mean it would be possible to develop a stripped down Wii U port of actual AAA games? And maybe even tailor them to the Wii U?

And they will be fun to play?

They could possible offer such a unique and fun gameplay experience that the HD-Twins gamers will buy a Wii U just to experience their favorite game series in a fresh way?

THAT'S exaclty what I belive and I think Reggie too...
