If Smash Wii U and Dragon Age both fail to hit 90 than critics have officially gone overboard on being too critical.

Or perhaps your opinion is simply not compatible with the general consensus?

Or perhaps Link is Zero Suit Samus.

mgs collection scored 90 on xb360

so if we talk about collections, halo: mcc is the worst ever released.
inferior console, inferior games, inferior collections.

xbox one the best place to play

With exception to MGS HD (which had 89 on the PS3, which was the version with more reviews), the MCC is the highest scoring collection in years. I'm not aware of a single major collection getting 90+ since 2010/2011.

Considering that, and the harsher nature of reviews right now, 85 - 90 seems like an acceptable score for the MCC. I had hoped they'd judge it on the 7th gen scale though.

Edit: Just noticed that the MGS collection was also released in 2011. So the MCC is literally the highest rated collection in 3 years, even despite 8th gen only titles being treated harsher :p

? I don't even understand how you reached this conclusion... it is nonsense.

BTW MGS HD Collection score 89 over 50 reviews... it scored 90 on 360 due the low review count... great score too like MCC.

PS. MGS games (the main ones) seem sto have scored better than Halo games too.

??

gow collection 91 (includes 94, 93 games) 4 1/2 years after frist game released
mgs collection 89 (includes 96, 91, 89 games) 10 years after frist game released
halo collection 87 (includes 97, 95, 94, 87 games) 10 years after second game released

To be honest, Halo: Combat eveolved got the same treatment years ago.

it originally got 97 Meta

The rerelease got an 82 Meta

Could it just be that oponions change or perhaps that a game that is releaseing in 2014 should be held to 2014 standards?

What if you never played Halo before?

I think most collections suffer with this nonsense. Older game mechanics may feel dated after sometime (like older FPS with different control schemes, MGS old camera, etc). But that's normal, games are in constant evolution. Critics should review games according to its own time, not comparing its mechanics with modern ones.

Come on, take Medal of Honor. The game didn't even used two analogs correctly and the main control schemes was: walk with D-pad, hold R1 to aim with the D-pad and shoot with X. Despite that, it's a masterpiece and one of the best FPS ever. If I reviewed it today should I give it a 4 because of that? Of course not, the games should be reviewed according with their time.

Of course, critics nowadays don't make sense, at least in gaming. That's exactly why gaming critics don't have the same status as movie critics. Not because games aren't as important, but because their work reviewing it is inconstant and basically sucks big time.

Or perhaps Skyrim and Skyward Sword are not one and the same? :)

How dare you imply his opinion isn't the overruling baseline from which all people should judge games. Go sit in the corner and think about what you've done, young man.

(on a side note, what game is that in your sig? The fanboy one :p).

Metro.co.uk should be embarrassed with their view on Multiplayer.  Its absolutely horrendous opinions with no thought other than "lol haz no sprint or loadouts it dated" that is ruining many competitive shooters today and turning them into games for casuals who want loadouts and sprint for no other reason than because COD has it.

I can understand the lower review score for Halo: Anniversary as it didn't have any multiplayer, unless you had halo reach and even then it was just halo reach multiplayer on CE maps which angered a lot of people as they expected the original's multiplayer, plus it also had technical difficulties and didn't have as many improvements as this collection.

xD I retain my right to discuss respectfully within discussions.

Also, that pic is from Telltale's The Wolf Among Us.

87? That's a little lower than I expected. Well there's still plenty of time and I know what I'm getting for Christmas anyway!

Also let's try and keep the thread on topic; there's a fair few off topic nearly posts so let's try and stamp that out please.

Here lies the dearly departed Nintendomination Thread.
