Lot of variation, especially in game sales.

But the consensus seems to be 35-55k in hardware next week. That sounds about right to me.

Anyone have an idea where it will level out?

starcraft - Playing Games = FUN, Talking about Games = SERIOUS

I'll try to put this as nicely as possible: some of you are really setting yourselves up for disappointment. Unfortunately, PS3 hardware and software are both struggling in Japan at the moment, even as the console is doing well elsewhere. Expecting hardware to increase 200% or more, from 15k to 40k+, is simply not going to happen. Even with a bundle deal, it's difficult to see PS3 hardware getting much higher than 30k next week, which would still be a 100% increase in sales.

I'm not all that familiar with the Yakuza name, but I'd ask some of you to keep perspective on the Japanese market. So far, only two PS3 games have topped the 300k mark in Japan:

Everybody Golfs and Dynasty Warriors are those two, both very big titles in Japan. So far, no titles have topped the 500k mark, and only six games have even reached 200k. Hopefully Yakuza can become the seventh, but... it's hopelessly idealistic to think that it's going to sell in the 400-500k region. It would be better to be more realistic, to avoid getting disappointed.

My Website

End of 2008 totals: Wii 42m, 360 24m, PS3 18.5m (made Jan. 4, 2008)

we've seen a handful of bigger games than Yakuza come and go without seeing anything but an increase in hardware sales that is not huge and very temporary.

currently playing: Skyward Sword, Mario Sunshine, Xenoblade Chronicles X

200,000 games and 80,000 PS3s sold in first week. 500,000 lifetime. If it sees a western release, 750,000 lifetime.

80k PS3 sales? That's like... a joke, right?

25k PS3 (maybe) - and around 200k for sales week#1.

The typical existing PS3 owner, is also the typical person who would buy this game. Its not selling to a different audience.

I agree, i'm kinda a sony fanboy,  but sales going from 13000 to 80000? To much.

Oh,if i am not mistaken the Silver PS3 will see its launch on the same day as Yakuza 3.So that could be an additional 5000-10000 hardware units to my first estimation of 35.000-50.000.

Yes,I think the same like you,tne new silver color will raise a little the PS3's hardware numbers.

Software:
120K first day.
180K first week.
550K lifetime.

Hardware:
50K for the week.

There are only 10k bundles btw, so don´t expect PS3 to get over 30k during that week. For the game itself, expecting DMC4 level sales. About 120k 1st day and 180k 1st week. LTD 300-350K.

I think the game itsels will sell around 200k on it's first week. After that it all depens how the game keeps selling. If it has legs like its predecessors, Yakuza 3 might become the best selling PS3 game in Japan and the first one to break the 500k mark (allthough HSG 5 might do that before yakuza 3 if it gets a "the best" release soon).

I expect hardwar around 40k during the launch week.
