I sincerely wish. JRPGs need to make a comeback and NOW!
They can cut through the decay that is the stagnant FPS genre.

In saying that, no. The game wont be a next heavy hitter for Nintendo. Nintendo simply saw that there was interest in Xenoblade so they put Shulk in Smash to drive sales much like Marth and Roy did for Fire Emblem when they appeared in Melee. And putting the first game on New 3DS will boost interest too.

Again, I would really like a new Xeno game every 2-3 years. With some other JRPGs revitalised.

They should work with Konami and get the Suikoden series exclusive! Managing 108 characters from the touch screen would be amazing! Also controlling the army on army battles (just those sections of the game mind you) could be like Civilization where you tap your units and drag them to the enemy unit you want to fight. I think it'd be great. The gamepad could be used in SO many ways it'd be ridiculous. Or why not team up with Square-Enix and make a console Crystal Chronicles X Xenoblade Chronicles. Tell me people wouldn't be excited for that! The gameplay would be exactly like the Crystal Chronicles for the DS was. It had a great control scheme and utilized the second screen very well.

Anyways, as you said about Xenoblade X, there is interest. It's all going to be about HOW they manage the series to really tell if it will be a heavy hitter. I just think the interest is there enough that it COULD.

Sadly, I dont think there is enough interest. Majority of western gamers dont care for JRPGs anymore, was a big reason why the genre died late PS2/early PS3 gen. Hopefully Xenoblade X ignites the genre again though.

As for your game ideas? All good. The gamepad could be used for any RTS game though. Get Battalion Wars back, with a mix of micromanagement and fast paced war action.

Id rather just a new Crystal Chronicles on Wii U, with massive online pls!!!

Lmao at it actually asking if it well sell on a Mario Kart or Smash level. I really hope that wasn't a serious question. But Nintendo definitely does seem to be pushing the franchise in hopes of bigger success, which I agree is funny since they refused to release the first game in the US for so long. It's not gonna be a Nintendo "pillar" or anything though.

On a side note, I always find it ironic Metroid is often considered a "pillar" for the company given the original and Prime 1 are the only two to sell much of anything, and neither hit 3m. Xenoblade X could possibly sell on par with a lot of Metroid games (around a mil).

For Wii U yes. Do you think 3 million sales is completely out of the question?

I didn't know you meant on a "MK8 so far" level. But even still, 3.5m is too hard of a milestone for any non Square Enix JRPG to hit, especially on a small install base like Wii U. I'd say 2.5m tops lifetime for Xenoblade X, and that would be absolutely fantastic.

A massive online Crystal Chronicles, I don't think that'd be necessary. I jus tthink with (like Xenoblade Chronicles X is doing, or Crystal Chronicles Echoes Of Time had done in the past) a 4 player campaign that you're frineds can drop in and out of would be fine. Have the ability to trade items. They could even keep the telekinesis as was introduced in The Crystal Bearers as a touch screen function while the buttons could be used to support regular ARPG style fighting.

I also think that Xenoblade could very well ignite the jrpg genre again. The thing that got people into JRPGs in the first place was how expansive everything was. Stories, customization, Worlds, ect. They all seemed to get muddled in the last gen due to JRPGs trying to conform to the way other genres were going with being all about the cinematics, especially the money making FPS genre. Xenoblade seems to take a step back in the right direction, and maybe sales will show the genre isn't dead but the shallow approaches to become mainstream the genre had made in the past decade just doesn't work.

Then that's where we disagree. Though I will say 2.5 would be fantastic I can see the Xenoblade Chronicles X make 3 mil lifetime, even slightly surpass it. I'd say lifetime ~3.25 mil.

Sorry, but that's just silly...even Skyrim on PS360 combined couldn't reach MK Wii, and Xenoblade Chronicles had less than 1mil on Wii - what makes you think that any RPG on WiiU can reach levels of mainstream game such as MK?

I know  that, I was just talking Wii U sales wise. I think around 3 million is possible, Smash sales pending of course.

After playing Xenoblade Chronicles (XC) on my Wii, I just knew that I had to have an Wii U just for Xenoblade Chronicles X (XCX) -  the main reason I bought an Wii U. I wasn't expecting nothing and then BAAM (one the best games I've played)!  :)

They know the game (XC) is good but very few people know it so Nintendo is trying to get higher sales of XCX through sales of XC on N3DS and, simutaneously, making the series well known.  A smart move, IMHO. After all, it seems we are living the "remake/remaster" era in gaming.

But still, I don't see it selling around 3M. Sadly.

At this point, people aren't expecting to sell 1 mil, but even if it sold over that people will still be making threads about how it sold "so poorly". Which will be another day in the life of the console wars, lol.

If you're telling me that:
(A): It will outsell Mario kart 8 and Super Smash Bros. for Wii U: NO.
(B): It will convince Nintendo to finally get people to put out JRPGs on the system: YES.
(C): 2015 sales: Xenoblade > The Last Guardian: YES

Lol, well that's all I needed to know.

How many copies do you think XCX will sell? Obviously I can see it doing around 3 mil.

By end-2015, I don't see it going past 1 million, but it'll cut really close. That's if the New 3DS Xenoblade doesn't have any impact.

If it does, I see it being a shoo-in for a million-seller.

Lifetime sales won't hit three million, but will probably go past two million. Divide all figures by two if you want to be a pessimist.

I feel those numbers would be accurate if they weren't really pushing the advertising of the series. Not a bad prediction, in fact it's a very safe prediction. I guess I'm just a little more optimistic while others seem to be more pessimistic.

However, I am trying to keep this in reality, this Legend Of Zelda seems to be taking a direction that will appeal to a TON of people and it's sales are going to blow every other Wii U game out of the water. That's just the facts of it.
