Final Fantasy used to be one of the biggest Franchise ... Final Fantasy VII & Final Fantasy X this was when JRPG were super popular.

Trends come and go. Were JRPGs super popular before FF VII, nope. Nothing is stoping Xenoblade X from becoming the next main popular JRPG. At least popular enough to reach 3 mil.

You answered your own question. JRPGs are not as popular as they were so common sense would state that ALL JRPGS would suffer, so thats just making Xenoblade; especially Xenoblade X job that much harder. Whats keeping from being the next IT JRPG? The fact that is isnt teh IT JRPG. That honor goes to FF no matter what happens to that series it will spank others for the forseeable future. Hell I would say Kingdom Hearts would do better. 3 mil is insane. I am willing ot bet it wont reach that lifetime, especially not with Wii U numbers.

Which is sad, because that series over time has just become absolute garbage IMO.

That is not an opinion shared by most. Yes i thought 13 sucked. But that is one dud out of how many games they have released since NES days. So they kind of earned a the benefit of the doubt. Xenoblade has a LONG way to go to even get within spitting distance of that kind of acclaim and popularity

Nope, Persona 5 is the best JRPG. I have play Xenoblade and I love it but not as much as Persona 5.  I play through Xenoblade once and haven't play it again yet while I replay Persona 4 and 3 each more than 3 times.

But XIII wasn't a singular event, it spanned over 3 games and nearly an entire gen of dissappointment. Not to mention the XIV disaster where the game had to be redone entirely and shipped out a second time, with free versions given to the people who originally bought it to finish up the gen. (Oh people were fired over it. When higher ups had to be removed, it isn't a sign you're doing things right.) XII seems to be Final Fantasies Wndwaker with everyone absolutely loving it or hating it, XI I can't really comment on, but it never seemed to create an uproar of popularity, so the last one that had any real universal acclaim was X.

Now with XV in development, Nomura has been removed from the head of that project. Final Fantasy has lost a lot of that acclaim, and it seems the majority of people who keep coming back are waiting for that moment they can recreate that magic from VII.

Persona's alright, I like it well enough. But being a Playstation jrpg it will never get out of the shadow of Final Fantasy.

Oh the last gen did suck for the series. But again that is ONE gen versus damn near every other gen that was fine. 14 is fixed. The newer version is much improved and they are making money on it. 12 is def not Windwaker. Not even close. More people liked it than hated it. ANd it was still a well crafted game. IMHO you are focusing on the very few negatives and ignoring the positives. You brought up 10 and that is a game that just had a rerelease that sold more than a million copies. A rerelease thats more than Xenoblade did, which just proves how much relevant FF series STILL is. Just because the director left doesnt mean 15 will suck. Im going ot assume that most of the game is done at least the real important stuff and he went on to continue KH3. That tells me that SE is doing proper time management. People keep coming back because for the most part the series had done wll. ANd Type 0 is coming out very soon and that is actually a good game. SO the series seems to be back on track.

You're assuming more people hate than like Windwaker? Not the case. (It sold more than a million copies on it's remake as well on an install base of around 3 million. Not to mention digital sales.)

Also a rerelease that did more than a game that was very limited in release? Hardly a bragging point.

no. Im not at all. Im assuming that not as much people hated FF12 as you are trying to say so any comparison to WW is moot. Really you could compare WW to 13 as that game is way more polarizing.

If that is the case then you really cant brag about Xenoblade numbers either. LR FF13 PS3 version ALONE did better than xenoblade either. And that was released later and on a system with a smaller install base. And that game wasnt that well received. But bragging wasnt my point or aim. Im simply stating that the FF series is so big that they will sell larger than just about any other JRPG series outside of maybe Dragon Quest

Don't know if FFXIII will ever be vindicated as one of the best of its franchise like Wind Waker ultimately has once people got over the looks of it. Also Dragon Quest excluding the most recent MMORPG usually outsell FF in Japan.

But I do agree, as successful as the Xenoblade franchise may eventually get, it is unlikely to ever touch FF despite the drop off in recent games. Nintendo will probably keep it around if X does as well if not better then the first one but much like most Nintendo IPs (Metriod, Fire Emblem, Star Fox, etc), if you aren't falling under the brand of Mario, Zelda, Pokemon or Kirby, you will only get games that Nintendo developers want to do and it will not be a priority to release.

Hercales (Glory of Hercales) , Starfy (Legend of Starfy), Mike Jones (Star Tropics), Kyle Hyde (Hotel Dusk) and Ashley Robbins (Another Code/Trace Memory), you all are missed.
