Even with MGR? I mean they werent even trying to be funny in Vanquish.

I was just talking about in Bayonetta 1 & 2.

I haven't played MGR, but while the tepid story in Vanquish was a drawback, the amazing gameplay more than made up for it in my book.

Oh...I'm speaking as a pure platinum fan and not just a fan of Platinum but also a fan of Hideki Kamiya ( from his Capcom days), himself. He comes from the arcade style era when stories were never well thought out to begin with. Its purely down to gameplay. I love DMC as much as the next guy but the new DMC had a better storyline than the old one. I dont know if making sense out of the storyline was half of what cause part of its doom to begin with or if it was just the squabbles about how the character looked.

I can't really speak for DMC, my experience with the series is limited. I played one of the PS2 ones years ago (can't remember which one) and thought it was cool, and enjoyed a brief bout of the recent reboot on a friend's PS3, but I haven't really played enough to have formed a strong opinion.

Oh....I thought you were like me..a Kamiya fan. I'm probably one of the few true hack n slash fans on this site. Thats pretty much what I grew up on outside of fighters. Beat em ups, Fighters and hack n slash. Essentially meaning I made the transition from console to arcade and back to console again as a child. Heh

Thats just the thing though, GOW revolutionized how people thought about hack n slash. When people started making AAA hack n slashes they finally tried making a action packed storyline that of course was a work of fiction but had at least decent plot evolution. Sony changed the way people thought a hack n slash could play and changed the scope of to one of a game that could have a story work in unison with the gameplay rather than uneven like the games which came before. It let the gameplay fit the tone of the game rather than forcing it to overpower the story.

I'm a Kamiya fan in so far that I love his work on Okami and Bayonetta 1 & 2. His attitude is entertaining too. I like him more than I probably should considering he's told me to "fuck off" and called me an "idiot" on twitter more than once, haha.

Wow, what a dick he is ... I'm appalled, is this guy prejudiced or what ?

Interesting, i'm a little on and off about him but no doubt the guy is a hack n slash wiz. When it comes to other things like overall experience this is where it turns to GOW.

GOW revolutionized how people thought about hack n slash.

This gave way to games like Dantes Inferno (which EA ripped off Sony badly, but whatever) and Star Wars the force Unleashed (One of two Sony games Lucas Arts ripped off). It became the viable option for which a game could be done properly.

In essence if Sony was given the power of Raiden I think thats the closest we would've gotten to a well told story about Raiden with great hack and slash to boot which fit the story. I love Platinum and I cannot wait to play Bayonetta 2.

I would say Devil may Cry because Platinum are masters at Action games, and Hod of War is too violent and bad impersonation of Greek/Egyptian/Norse Mythology.

Yeah, Legend of Korra sure is a masterpiece.

It really is, all things considered. A licensed game by Activision, that had better combat than GoW, was developed in a few months with a shoe string budget, and was priced at $14.99.

Rated poorly by reviewers because they just wanted more Square Square Triangle, don't understand that a license game usually isn't allowed to change lore, didn't understand the lore elements that were there, and just sucked at the game.

Some of the complaints made me sit here for an hour trying to mentally choke their children in the infinitesimally small chance that the immutable laws of the universe alter at that split second and give me the power to stop their line before it continues.

"I had my powers locked out and need to unlock them, that's such a video game excuse!" Motherf*cker do you even watch the show? That's an actual problem the heroes face right now in the series. Whats more, yeah it's a video game element, it fits with the story and gives you a way to grow and it's in a f*cking videogame. HRRRRGGHFJNMGBFVSDC

We should call it the Activision challenge and see if anyone else could accomplish as much with such constraints. I'd give Korra a 6.5 only because the combat is actually pretty good.

It might not be perfect, but it sure is more complex than most critics would like you to believe.

I prefer DMC overall to GoW. I prefer the gameplay of DMC and Dante as a character. I always found Kratos thoroughly unlikeable in every aspect. Bayonetta is miles above either one of them, however.

I liked the whole shamelessly cheesy aspect of the Bayonetta series. Its gameplay was far more fun for me than any other game in its genre.  Story is a secondary and perhaps tertiary concern in a genre like that.

Kratos' personality aside, his character design just screams "Todd McFarlane Toys," which, if you can't tell from the tone of my post, is a negative thing.

I guess we'll have to agree to disagree. I just tend to prefer characters that take themselves seriously. I will give you that Kratos' design ain't exactly "great" but Bayonetta's is also quite silly for me.
