I can't really speak for DMC, my experience with the series is limited. I played one of the PS2 ones years ago (can't remember which one) and thought it was cool, and enjoyed a brief bout of the recent reboot on a friend's PS3, but I haven't really played enough to have formed a strong opinion. |
Oh....I thought you were like me..a Kamiya fan. I'm probably one of the few true hack n slash fans on this site. Thats pretty much what I grew up on outside of fighters. Beat em ups, Fighters and hack n slash. Essentially meaning I made the transition from console to arcade and back to console again as a child. Heh
Thats just the thing though, GOW revolutionized how people thought about hack n slash. When people started making AAA hack n slashes they finally tried making a action packed storyline that of course was a work of fiction but had at least decent plot evolution. Sony changed the way people thought a hack n slash could play and changed the scope of to one of a game that could have a story work in unison with the gameplay rather than uneven like the games which came before. It let the gameplay fit the tone of the game rather than forcing it to overpower the story.
