And the new Totals:
PS4: 5.583M
XONE: 2.881M
Wii U: 2.249M
3DS: 4.467M
Vita: 794K
Btw Theprof, could you update the game release table with Super Smash Bros one week earlier in europe and Captain Toad on Week 10 (releases January 2nd) in Europe?

Thanks nfor the headsup.
Know anything about holiday bundles? I need to update for the xbox ones as well, but I'm unaware of any special ps4 or wiiU bundles
I wont give any numbers but Xbone will win in the US, and week 3 will be a huge bump for wii U, MK8 bundle japan It wont do amazingly but it will be pretty big, and sonic boom will also push a few consoles . You guys are underestimating the sales of Wii U this season. It will sell a minimum of 3mil this holiday season. It might get to 220k in week 4 due to smash in the US.

I don't think Wii U will sell 3 million this holiday. For that it needs to sell over 360k per week during the last two months which is too high for any console.

You know, I had this whole response to your post up, but seeing the numbers from last year, I think wiiU is probably only capable of maybe 2.4-2.6m this year, and that's being generous.

So that's why it took you so long. Were you actually saying its possible before looking at last year's numbers? Anyways, even 2.4-2.6m is way too high, Wii U actually has some competition this year.

Yeah I was thinking 3m was possible. It actually only needs 330k per week, and if it could hit 500k twice it should be possible. But after looking at last years numbers, I can't say that for sure. I mean, yeah it has more competition now, but it also has two major games come out this year. This q1-q3 was 50% better than last year's q1-q3, so if that kept up with last year's last 10, then 1.6m could become 2.4m, but I'm not so sure.

There is only one major game coming out on Wii U in November, which would definitely help the system to sell much better but wouldn't sustain the 50% increase over last year, as last year Wii U had SM3DW and TLOZ: WWHD and its competitors had a very small library and were much more expensive.
Like, in 2013, Wii U cost $300 with a game bundled while PS4 cost $400 and XB1 cost $500, each without a game. In 2014, Wii U still costs $300 with a game bundled but PS4 costs $400 with a game bundled in Europe, and more importantly, XB1 costs $350 with 1/2 games bundled. Also PS4 and XB1 have many more games than last year but Wii U only has a few more games.

Try to think of it without comparing to another console though, because that implies that a gamer purchases a console simply based on the value of the system. While a negligent parent may buy a different system rationalizing that "it's all the same", someone who wants a specific console gets that console. It's just a matter of how long it takes them.
What the wiiU has going for it:
Year that saw mario kart release AND super smash. Last time that happened on Wii, it was pretty major that holiday. WiiU has a bundle, that's not even a question, so we'll probably see 250$ bundles. Plus it's already in that impulse purchase price range. I think it has a decent chance of at least 2m

Nothing special as far as I am aware of. But I'm pretty sure a Smash Bundle will come out, just as a Halo MCC Bundle will almost certainly come out in europe for the XOne. However, nothing official yet, exept if I missed it
