There is only one major game coming out on Wii U in November, which would definitely help the system to sell much better but wouldn't sustain the 50% increase over last year, as last year Wii U had SM3DW and TLOZ: WWHD and its competitors had a very small library and were much more expensive.

Like, in 2013, Wii U cost $300 with a game bundled while PS4 cost $400 and XB1 cost $500, each without a game. In 2014, Wii U still costs $300 with a game bundled but PS4 costs $400 with a game bundled in Europe, and more importantly, XB1 costs $350 with 1/2 games bundled. Also PS4 and XB1 have many more games than last year but Wii U only has a few more games.

Try to think of it without comparing to another console though, because that implies that a gamer purchases a console simply based on the value of the system. While a negligent parent may buy a different system rationalizing that "it's all the same", someone who wants a specific console gets that console. It's just a matter of how long it takes them.

What the wiiU has going for it:
Year that saw mario kart release AND super smash. Last time that happened on Wii, it was pretty major that holiday. WiiU has a bundle, that's not even a question, so we'll probably see 250$ bundles. Plus it's already in that impulse purchase price range. I think it has a decent chance of at least 2m
