The reason why Bayonetta won't be a system seller is sexism. Gamers like their ladies to be sexy and sexual, but they don't like their ladies to be sexually powerful or dominant. They don't like them to be in charge of their own sexual destiny. It is too threatening to the sexuality of the gamer. Even with her crotch shots and arse wiggles, she's telling gamers they have no chance of actually getting any, so enjoy what I'm condescending to show you 'cause that's all you get. She's also saying that even if you did manage to get more from her, her raw sexual energy would burn you up and leave you an empty shell.
The vast majority of gamers can't handle that. Which is why despite Bayonetta being so critically acclaimed it failed to sell enough to make a profit. And why it is a terrible fit for Nintendo as from a sexuality perspective Nintendo's audience is even more conservative than others.
Bayonetta 2 will not sell very well, and will not move many Wii Us because people are too afraid. Not me though. That's the one thing I kind of appreciate about the game it's just the game, B1, itself I didn't connect to when I tried it out. Then again when I first tried God of War I didn't really connect with it, but now I love it, aside from the ridiculous and puerile sex bits, which are completely the opposite of the sexiness of Bayonetta. Too bad I will never buy a Wii U I guess, at least never during the official years of the 8th generation.
I do feel a bit obliged to play B1, so I will be looking out for it, as broken and not very playable as it is on PS3.
