As for Metroid, I don't know why you guys are worrying that much. I'm 100% sure there's a 3DS Metroid on the way (2015/2016) and a Wii U one as well (2016). EDIT: And I'm also pretty sure they won't be Other M kind of crap.

I also think that, but I just can't shake off that wierd feeling :/

I'm hoping that the Diddy Kong Racing thing is true.

DKR > Metroid

Honestly, Metroid should take a break. Give Star Fox & F-Zero a chance. It isn't like Metroid sells a ton anyway. It should be treated no better.

I belive Other M was a wiimote thing. Trying too hard to apply One-Wiimote-Gaming.

"Hayashi: First off, Sakamoto-san said ‘I want to create a Metroid that can be played with just one Wii Remote’. I didn’t really understand what he meant."

"What Sakamoto-san had in mind, however, was to make the controls as simple as those of a NES game. When I asked Sakamoto-san ‘So it’s ‘a NES game with the latest technology’, right?’ he replied ‘That’s exactly what it is’."

As for Star Fox SNES being better than 64, not in a million years. The first Star Fox game was way ahead of its time, and not in a good way. It tried to do things the SNES just couldn't do well - it was a novelty more than anything. 64 took that and fully expanded it into an amazing game that improved upon every single aspect. It is to the first Star Fox game what Melee is to Smash 64 - a huge improvement in every possible way.

SF64 was a step down from the original in plenty of ways. Fortuna went from a tropical wilderness of prehistoric monsters to a boring snowball, Macbeth went from an ominous volcanic cavern to a generic factory world, the atmosphere was less epic, your teammates simply retreating instead of dying meant the stakes were not as high, slippy's voice was cringe-worthy, and overall it went from a grand space opera to more like a saturday morning tv show.

Before getting to the real reply, Fortuna never went from a tropical wilderness of prehistoric monsters to a boring snowball, because even though some stupid translator would think otherwise, the snow planet on SF64 actually isn't Fortuna - this has been addressed in the remake, where it is properly called Fichina.

As for the real reply, there's really nothing to say about this. I don't know where is this super-epic atmosphere you're taking from the original game, but in my opinion Star Fox 64 definitely had a better one. I don't even remember any team-mate dying in the SNES one either, so if they actually died instead of retreating it didn't make much of a difference since it didn't even happen. I also disagree about Slippy's voice.

If the first one was a "grand space opera", the second one still is for sure.

Fortuna or not, the world designs were still much more bland in my view.

In the SNES game, your teammates would actually be killed and never come back if you didn't save them, which made it more impactful than just them retiring for a level.

Which reminds me of another point in SF SNES's favour; in that  game your teammates would kill some of the baddies you missed, and their kills were added to yours, so it felt more like teamwork. In SF64 they stole your kills, ruining the teamwork dynamic.
