Game Of Thrones' Maisie Williams to Play Ellie in The Last Of Us Movie?

Maisie Williams has given an update on the state of the planned big screen adaptation of hit video game The Last Of Us.

The Game Of Thrones star revealed to Flicks and the City that she had a lunch meeting recently to further talk about the possibility of her playing the leading part of Ellie. Calling the possibility "really exciting" the 17-year-old actress said she would "absolutely love" to play the part.

"It kind of all came about through Twitter a long time ago," she said. "The power of Twitter still never ceases to amaze me.

"Honestly I would love to [take on the role] and that's where it is at the moment. There's no script, no director and it's still very early days for the whole project. If it all goes ahead soon enough then yeah, I would love to."

Maisie Williams has been a popular choice with fans to play the role of Ellie, who travels a post-apocalyptic America with tough and gruff long-time survivor Joel in Naughty Dog's popular video game. Fans have been touting her for a while and at Comic Con it was revealed that she was been circled by the film's producers.

Williams is best known for playing Arya Stark in hit HBO fantasy drama Game Of Thrones, a character with more than a few similarities to Ellie. Actress Ashley Johnson portrayed her in the game, but at 31 wouldn't be able to play the 14-year-old on film.

The game's writer Neil Druckmann is writing the script for Sony with Sam Raimi on board in a producing capacity.

Oh god I hope this movie happens and she ends up playing Ellie but who will play Joel??

ohh god i hope she doesnt. she doesnt give an ellie vibe or feel at all. please, dont give her the part just because she is from game of thrones. she doenst even look close to ellie.

No actress looks the same irl and in movies, so i don't see the problem. As long as she respects the role, I'm sure she can be good.

she doesnt have to look exactly like her. but they dont even give the same vibe, not even close. that would be like putting brad pit for joel, he just doesnt fit the part. 

Have you seen her vine ? She doesn't give the same vibe as in GoT, and that's what being an actor is. Or was. Whatever.

Also Brad pitt doesn't give the same vibe in snatch or fight club. That's totally different. He was still awesome in both roles.

Horrible choice, but not really important, because the movie will probably be a poor adaptation, as is generally the case. I predict the quality and box office "success" similar to Max Payne, Doom or Tekken.

I'm sorry but she is way too ugly. Ellie looks better, they should look a little more.

I think it's a great choice of actor. First of all, good child actors are few and far between. Maisie looks very young for her age too so she has the experience and the ability to do more strenuous work on set than an actual 14 year old.

Plus her work on Game of Thrones would easily give her an advantage than other actors. While not a similar show at all to the game, she does play a survival role is a despair filled environment which is a similar style.

Only problem I can see is how well she can do an American accent. If she can't do a good one(haven't seen her do one) then that would be the biggest problem
