Yeah, its a comparison that can be made but it isn't that inciteful into the systems respective success which I guess is what I'm getting at. With software comparisons though is quite different, that was definitely a failure on sony behalf and no system with 80m hardware units out there should only have total software sales of around 250m... Thats quite poor or at least below industry standards.

Apparently PSP piracy was big in Europe, hence why some of the PSP games came with physical special editions to encourage sales.
Thing is I honestly feel that while piracy reduces software sales, it actually greatly increases hardware sales. PS1, PS2, DS, PSP, and even the Wii and GBA to some extent could play pirated games very easily. I have known plenty of people with a multitude of chipped consoles I listed.
