Forums - Nintendo - North American Bayonetta 2 TV commercial

Do you like the commercial?

It's great! 81 60.90%

Meh! 41 30.83%

It's terrible... 11 8.27%

Total:133

I honestly didn't expect them to run TV ads at all for fear it would tarnish their family friendly image, so this is a pleasant surprise.

Omg! That are marketing it! Thank the Heavens!

Bayonetta 1 was marketed too: marketing is not the miracle tool you may think it is.

I'm sort of disappointed to see commercials for Bayo2 to be honest. I may be alone in this but I'd like to see companies spending less on commercials and more on just polishing a game. The fact that Bayo1 is coming along for FREE made me think "so that's where the marketing budget went? Good move!" Getting two great games for the price of one is the sort of thing that gets posted, boasted about even, on the internet. There's your marketing right there: Bayo fans raving about the sequel coming with the prequel for FREE. Whatever the case, I'm hoping this works. I loved Bayo1 on 360 and for what it's worth, Bayo2 has recently gone up to number 5 in top Amazon sales behind Smash on the 3ds and PlayStation network cards.

To the folks saying the commercial should have included some review scores, keep in mind that the commercial was likely done months ago, long before the reviews came in, and possibly before the game was finished. But I do think Nintendo should scramble to produce a second one that does plaster on a bunch of 9/10s and 10/10s from popular review sites.

Well that image, the 'Disney' of video games, has been doing terribly for them as of late so it seems time for a shift. I don't blame them for trying to aim at the family: families have a LOT of money but movies and video games function differently. Movies mean a night out with the kids (Finding Nemo, Shrek, Frozen, all huge blockbusters), video games are a babysitting tool that allow parents to have some time for themselves. And what do kids want? They want to be grown ups and play 'mature' games that have blood and nudity in them (because that's what qualifies as maturity).

I want this game. Mission accomplished.

I think it does its job. On a personal level, I prefer the La Roux commercial for the music, but to be honest this one probably does its job better than that one. Bayonetta is a game that isn't as easy to understand at a glance as a game like Destiny, so just showing a bunch of review scores and adding some music doesn't really help sell it very well. The 90's style advertising may be more helpful for it.

At the very least they should make an accolades trailer soon though.

Agreed; put out a TV comercial boasting about all it's 10/10 review scores and you'd get some interest.

The commercial is alright... Review scores would have been great... But Bayonetta flashing some T&A would have been better...
