Forums - Microsoft - Microsoft is sitting on a precious Rare that still hasn't been used.

I don't expect much from Rare anymore. MS keeps saying that they will bring back old IPs but they still haven't. And considering most of the good staff is gone, I don't expect their new games to be very good.

Killer Instinct? Phantom Dust? Maybe you should give them time to actually develop a good game.

Last gen Micro started making some serious headway with Halo, Gears, Forza (fable really went away at the end). They had some other ips aswell however these were their calling cards. As i said they wanted them yearly because without them they didnt have a whole lot.  They also didnt need a whole lot 3rd parties they knew would pick up the slack. I never stated Micros first party is poor. But there is certainly a differnce between Sony's and Mircosoft's. The end of last gen the ps3 was doing really well gainning a lot of momentum and the games were flowing. This gen games are in the pipeline for sony and you proclaim Microsoft's superior at making games after not even a year (Microsoft develops, funds and publishes games of high quality on a consistent basis. As often as Sony does and then some these days).

Your the one that started listing titles (This year alone Microsoft has launched Project Spark, to good reviews, funded Titanfall to great reviews, and will soon have Sunset Overdrive, reviews pending) So i simply listed what sony has released thus far. I could list every game that we know sony has in the works but it wasnt needed. As to the only 2 games i mentioned have met crit or commercial success Killzone Shadow 1.95 million thus far 72 meta i dont see how it fails to be seen as a positive offering. I dont care about defending (i rarely comment on things) however i will speak my mind from time to time if i see something i dont agree with.

Last point. I never put down Micro's first party. I stated they run a proven system of game developement. They will continue to make good games and i think they are a good developer. However i dont think they have surpassed Sony as far as a developer goes because of 1 good gen and a decent couple months start. They are on the right track.  Sony has developed quality titles to comercial success for MANY years (point i was making when i first said it).

I think we're largely on the same page?

I was under the impression you were supporting STAGE's comments, which are largely off base, about Microsoft's development.

The argument about whether Sony or Microsoft does development in house better is one we could have for years, but it seems we agree that they both have positive, beneficial and consistent offerings (others in this thread still seem to think Microsoft doesn't do anything to get good games out except fund Halo) - so I think we're good?

What developer does Microsoft have  (which they created) that could be considered on par with Sony Santamonica that wasn't bought and serves multiple purposes?  Just a question. It speaks about their internal drive for creation. Seriously, one so creative and useful  that they are considered the line of defense to help outside developers create games that they don't even have time to make games of their own. One so creative that they trascend genre with their focus.

I don't want to go off topic, but statements like what you're making to Jamaican is prompts me to respond.

so they should ruin the franchise is what you are saying.

Killer Instinct is dead to me. WTF was tat shit they released in many little DLC packs. That is not a game. It's a slap in the face.

You can get both S1+S2 for $40, I fail to see the issue.

The issue is that it come out in parts and pieces over a period of time.  Is it so hard to do a full retail release on a disc thee days?

Yes. If you want a well balanced and different type of characters on the rosters.

It ain't street fighter where almost everybody does hadoukken some way and somehow. Every single player plays different.

It takes time for that.

I'm willing to bet MS was rushing it out the door to meet Sony to launch despite the needs of the developer so they devised the pricing model to accomodate that need to launch. They tend to overreact everytime Sony makes a movement. Look what happened last gen. They freaked out thinking they would launch close to Sony and launched a year ahead neglecting R&D and caused a massive RROD scare. MS was behind Sony in R&D timing and there were reports that MS was rushing to finish the Xbox Ones development once they heard Sony was complete with the PS4 and launching in Q4.

We are good. I wasn't going to make another long response even if we weren't. So tiring.
