It has a very very good chance, i just dont get why 2016 (or before) is possible for some people? As for 2017, isnt it all up to ps4 doing extremely well and 3ds doing terrible? I mean i think holiday 2017 is the earliest but thats just me.

That's not even relevant, the GBA was apart of an entire new generation with an entire new generation of games numbered in the hundreds, they discontinued GB & GBC for GBA. That's like saying the DS, DS Lite, DSi, and DSi XL are in the 3DS family because well.. it has DS in it's name. Like it or not the 3DS family includes 3DS, 3DS XL, 2DS, N3DS, and N3DS XL because A) they're not discontinuing the 3DS, 3DS XL, 2DS for the N3DS and N3DS XL B) they're still going to make games for the 3DS, XL, and 2DS C) there are only going to be a small amount exclusive games for it compared to the entire 3DS library now and going forward and D) it's just an upgrade.

I completely agree. I can't even believe it's confusing for some in the first place, like they completely forgot about the DSi and GBC and the differences/exclusives they had.

with how much of a lead those years have given the 3ds it will take a long time, the 3ds hasn't stopped selling and it's still the second best selling platform of the year. If it gained 10 million a year it would take over 3 years, 7.5 a year would take over 4.5.
The gap should shrink more slowly at first and then faster as ps4 sales pick up and 3ds sales continue to decline. I'll predict late 2017/ early 2018

How you treat previous systems have nothing to do with it. All you need to know is if the exclusive software justifies the new identity. 

You don't know if there are going to be a small amount of exclusives ...

2017/2018 most likely, I'm curious to hear what people's LT predictions for 3DS are.

OT: 2018, possibly Holiday of 2017. By then 3DS will be around 70 million, especially if N3DS does well. It'll be really close that year, I suspect. 

After reading this thread I feel like people are still expecting 85+. I feel bad for them.

I chose 2017 but it'll probably take longer.

This, it's not even sure 3DS can reach 70M, it's tracking behind GBA so it's unlikely for now unless new 3DS is the big savior and not just a bump in sales for a while.

About PS4, it's obvious that the console will at least reach 100M in such domination position.
