The Last of Us: Remastered is still at 95. It just means that the great devs haven't released anything this year.

I look at this score like Dark Souls. Its a great game... for the people interested in that type of game. But it probably doesn't have a wide appeal.

I still haven't finished the original Bayonetta. I'll get around to it eventually.

I don't see why not. A Link Between Worlds got their GOTY last year. That game was well under a million at the time of being given the award. Super Mario 3D World got Eurogamer's GOTY. Even in a post TLOU world. I wouldn't doubt it at all if it snags a couple GOTY awards.
Also I don't think that remasters should qualify for GOTY awards. It makes no sense. You don't see digital remasters of old movies get nominated for awards.

I picked up the demo a couple days ago and found myself WAY more engaged than I thought I'd be. I thought it would be second rate and not my style but the combat felt great, the music hooked me, and the crazy setpieces and overdone (though in my opinion mostly empowered) sexuality were actually pretty fun. Now I'm seeing great reviews roll in and I feel confident about the game's content being worth it.

But here's the question. When I pick up Bayonetta should I go play the original first and delay the second or indulge in the sequel and then revisit the older game if I'm still hooked? Opinions anyone?

Um only 8th perect score ever from Gamespot. So it has a HUGE chance to be GOTY there. And the only game that could pose a serious threat most places now would be Dragon Age. Your bias is showing. As much as I like my PS4, it has terrible exclusives compared to the Wii U. Assasins Creed Unity is just another rehash of the sooooo milked series.

Its not like they could give it a lower score than the original, that would just be weird. If anything it didn't even need to be re-reviewed.

I usually do not rely on reviews but WTH!! Bayo2 has exceeded all expectations! If I had a doubt, now I am pretty sure the game will sell very well and can move WiiU consoles.
