No, 3rd parties left because the Wii U sucks at moving their software. Look at the original Wii. It was getting some decent core support until those sales dried up. |
No. Nintendo used to run the main share of the third party market until Sony came into the gaming industry and changed that. Look up the history of Nintendo. You'll find that they ran the console industry inquestioned and had even Sega under their thumb until the Playstation reached the market. Nintendo tried to get panasonic to come into the struggle but that didn't even help.
Because of format issues...Nintendo soft plenty of devs to Sony and people followed the Sony console because of its multimedia capabilities. Nintendo's had headedness in not fighting back with the same formats they need to have or better did not help their cause. Sony brought CD's and they brought cartridges. SOny brought DVD's and they brought minidics. They were always behind in that respect when they should've known better and it cost them the first two gens Sony was in. It was initially politics resulting from format bias and Nintendo knew they needed to play ball and didn't.
Third party washed away gen after gen, essentially conditioning gamers on the console to get used to the lack thereof when at one time they were in abundance because as far as politics was concerned they had no competition and always got their way.
