Well the Gamecube and Wii certainly had a bigger core audience than the Wii U. Not that it really matters, there are four other consoles that are better for core gamers. The Wii U is great for Nintendo games and some other Japanese stuff. I think a lot of Nintendo faithfuls also enjoyed Just Dance on the Wii. They just dont't wanna admit it! That's fine though. I'm a core Xbox gamer that enjoyed some Kinect. In fact, I recently completed a DBZ game on Kinect! |
Guess that depends which "core" we are talking about. The term has been distorted over the years somewhat, to the point where it's often a stand-in for "dudebro". I consider myself a pretty serious gamer, but I love Wii Sports Resort.
Wii U's userbase is, so far, quite "core" simply because the console itself is too expensive and obscure to have bought by many "casuals". In the sense that most Wii U owners will be fairly avid gamers.
