Forums - Microsoft - Phil Spencer says indie launch parity clause is to ensure Xbox One owners don't feel second best

Looking after his own customers. Quite right. That is his job after all.

Not surprising some defend this moronic policy.  He is doing a bad job then.  No one benefits from this least of all xbox fans.  Less games,  less support from Indies is all this is doing,  and bad will with many of them.  This is a policy designed to bully small devs who cannot afford to be herded around.  How is xbox benefiting and being first class when ps4 is the console Indies prefer and with better support?

Ms should focus on things to make x1 more attractive platform instead of strong arm tactics.  It does not help xbox for Indies to skip your platform cause ms refused a Dev.  A game later is better then not at all.  The irony is ms has no issue paying to keep content and games away from the competition.

So they need to forcibly restrict developers to try to make Xbone owners not "feel" second best...

Which is a funny way of admitting that they ARE second best.

In which case, as an Xbone and PS4 owner, I agree. They are second best. But I don't agree with this dogmatic policy as a means to project an illusion of equality. Maybe they should have made a better console, with better policies.

What I see is... MS thought they could bully indie devs like they did AAA devs last gen.... But since PS4 is selling so well it completely backfired

They had put the policy before the gen started so he already knew they would come second, now I feel bad for the people here that said they would destrói Sony.

Azzanation: "PS5 wouldn't sold out at launch without scalpers."

I would rather get the game anyway. I just downloaded Dust on PS4. It was already on Xbox 360. I don't feel like second best. Its still a good game.

Good idea. Now many Indies are actively avoiding the Xbox ONE due to this clause. Nice way to get yourself shafted.

Second best. Than why did MS cause the issue in the first place?

To protect their Interests, most likely, so no one can buy a timed exclusive deal on a game which also gets released on their console. Problem is, instead of timed exlusives for the other conoles or PC it means that the Xbox ONE is getting left out by some devs. Right now it's only Indies who do so but just imagine what happens when some publisher or developer decides to release his game only on PS4 and maybe PC (very possible on asian and possibly continental european developers, not so much by american or british ones) or even the WiiU (which is relatively popular with Indie devs) to circumvent that system altogether? Yeah, instead of getting the game later they just don't get it at all.

The man is he well trained in PR, could do wonders if X1 was more capable and in a better position.

Still it sounds like a well made pr cover up.

People chose not to have the best experience when they chose the XBO. Why should people that bought a more capable device have to suffer, and even worse, why should people that chose the XBO potentially miss out on something due to this ridiculous policy?

People choose the second class or less experience all the time when it comes to electronics. If they are happy with that, that should be good enough. This policy is the ugly side of competition. Instead of making things better, they are draging everyone down to the same level.

Wow.

The PS4 is obsolete. Why didn't you buy a new pc instead?

Hilarious.
