Exactly.
The instability of the frame rate is the only issue for me. I'd take locked 30 over unlocked 60.

Unfortunately he is right about the industry going this way.
I blame those who moaned about resolution not being 1080p. Cheers guys for making devs choose res over framerate with your pathetic oh my god 900p bs.
And sony for jumping in that band wangon.
Framerate over res all day long.

Then how are they leading the way in response to ND? |
Reading comprehension seems an acquired taste these days.
He talks about frames per second, not graphics.

It doesn't matter when you decide it. No matter what you choose you will make compromises during development. Fact is due to the 60fps goal they have to drop features. Don't you think they tried using AA in MK8? They tried and then dropped it for their noble goal. |
It does matter cos there's a difference between a game that was designed from the ground up as a 60fps title and one where the original vision was downgraded halfway through to accomodate 60fps. The latter will be compromised, the former won't.
Gameplay > Graphics > 60FPS > 1080p
Dropping the latter two is no biggie in my books.

Game developers should just shut up and focus on making great games. Seriously from the bullshit "filmic' excuse that Ready At Dawn made for The Order's frame rate cap to this. I miss it when developers just showed off their games rather than creating this hype train and making absolute fabrications as to why certain features are not in their game. The Last of Us Remastered was infinitely smoother running at 60fps compared to it's 30fps PS3 counterpart as gunplay and aiming precision were all improved significantly.

Excluding the Steam machines, naturally.

Fixed that little boo boo for you!
So after a totally crap generation where everyone was focusing on unimportant visuals and accepted sub 20 FPS gameplay. (even TheLastOfUs!)
How exactly can they drop 60 fps?
Good to hear that the industry is as dumb as always.
