Forums - Sales - September 2014 NPD Thread! Everything is up!

Does that account for digital sales? I'm fairly sure with digital its even larger. At least according to Activision. Also as far as the gears bundle goes I wonder if they will do another BS money grab PR stunt like they did when they held the life of one of the characters hostage and made people buy T-shirts to decide. Either way both Halo and gears in my honest opinion are entirely over rated and frankly over-hashed so I don't see either doing what many people wish they would. Especially since most of the people that made the originals likely won't have any part of it. If MS wants to turn the tide they need new ideas and new IPs. So I think the most success they will have will come from games like Sunset overdrive and Quantum break and other original IPs. They continue that and get even more I think they will turn it around. All these rehashes tho honestly just make me groan because its old and played out and not in a good way like many Nintendo franchises that seem timeless.

Amazon rankings have been a good indicator then.

PS4 & PS4 Destiny bundle were both ranked higher than the highest XB1 sku in September. Plus they still are in October.

It's funny when you look back at all the people who would have called you crazy to say Destiny bundle sales for the month > Titafanll bundle sales for the year, but it was the truth

Amazon is really amazing

Predictions for end of 2014 HW sales:

 PS4: 17m   XB1: 10m    WiiU: 10m   Vita: 10m

Sony said it's the best month in the history of PSN sales, so yes, digital sales must be big

NPD is retail, but there is a quote buried somewhere with the digital totals and I belive is was 2:1 in favor of physical. If I find the figure I will pass it along to you.

Damn 100k short of being able to say ps4 outsold xb one globally in the USA again. Saved by China and tier 2 after all, but not in the way some people would have hoped.

You may find them overated but Microsoft fans obviously like them. Making a collection probably takes minimal time and effort for fairly large profit and fills a lineup gap. Theyre not taking time away from the other games, which are coming.

That's.... low. Deserves much better sales and I hope it has longer legs that standard fare or that the PC version pulls it up a lot higher. The budget is probably going to need at least a million to be justified/recouped.

I am a Microsfot fan, I just happen to be a microsoft fan that is also a Nintendo, Sony, and PC fan, and I have been playing games for 20 years(a few months away from turning 30) and I have played more than 5 games. Just because they are overrated which they are doesn't mean they won't be somewhat fun. It just means they won't have a lasting player base, players will get tierd of them quickly so they will move onto other games faster which means they will see a high return rate, and their over all sales won't be as good as some expect and won't really sell consoles.
