It's kinda frustrating when you're discussing something with someone and then they get banned and have their profile set to private, making it impossible to see why they were banned (if it was in another thread, that is).
I don't want to end up continuing a discussion that leads to moderations, on the off chance that the one I'm taking part in caused the moderation, or a similar discussion is being had elsewhere.
With the open network and tone of this site; I never fully understood why we have the "private" option at all, it appears to be used almost solely by posters who get moderated more often, perhaps in an effort to avoid people making critical remarks on their walls or something similar.

I agree with this and it's something I put forward but a couple weeks ago. The plan is to hopefully make it so a profile is "unlocked" when the user is banned but not sure how far along that is.

That's nice to hear!

Let's hope someone with tech and time manages to sort it out in the future, it would help the site a great deal.

I don't know about you but then we also need to stop Xbox fans from making fun of Sony fans.

You do realise that goes both ways right?

I'm sure he does. As I mentioned in my previous post it something that applies to everyone; not just one particular group.

But you Xbox guys are especially hostile.

Far... FAR from the truth all you could do is look at the Xbox Empire thread.

Of course and by all means I don't want to stop that. If Sony fans predicted that Ps4 would give the Xbone a butt whooping in terms of sales, by all means make us eat crow. Though if PC fans expect that games will always look better on their console and it doesn't, then by all means Sony/Xbox fans will make then eat crow. It's nature and sometimes it's beautiful but sometimes it bites, your bum.

As some of you must have noticed JayWood has been permabanned since his profile is not public here is a copy of the ban note:

Since the beginning of this year, you have made moves in order to support your own off-site projects. Off-site projects in themselves aren't a bad thing, but how one goes about them while on VGChartz has to be treated in a very serious manner in accordance to our Terms of Use and Forum Rules. Under our Terms of Use (which you agreed with when you signed up), within "Your Conduct", article 4 states the following: "You will not advertise or offer to sell any goods or services for any commercial purpose unless you have our written consent to do so." Despite this, you have used our forums as grounds for both advertising and gaining information for no other purpose than to benefit your own project (http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/thread.php?id=201076
http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/thread.php?id=201085
http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/thread.php?id=201090).

After this, you even began to publicly use our forums as a means of recruitment to find users to help you with your off-site project (http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/thread.php?id=201776). Even after this information and resource gathering, you went a step further to actually advertise your project within your threads (http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/thread.php?id=201888
http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/thread.php?id=201886
http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/thread.php?id=201885
http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/thread.php?id=201884).

This is when the mod team had to take action initially, contacting ioi about this and him responding that your actions needed to stop immediately. You did in fact stop your public resource gathering, advertising, and recruiting at that point. That should have been where this ended, but more recently we have learned that you have continued to resource gather, advertise, and recruit via private avenues on this site. When your off-site project is geared towards operating in the same niche that VGChartz operates in, we cannot have you continue to siphon users, resources, and mindshare while on this site. Not only do you continue to violate our Terms of Use (articles 4, 5, and 10 specifically), but based on the evidence we have gathered it is undeniably clear that VGChartz is only a tool for you to use in order to benefit your own project. After five days of talking with TruckOSaurus, AxumBlade, the mod team, and Machina, we have agreed that you are no longer allowed to participate on this site. Good luck on your project, but you have shown that you view VGChartz only as a resource to use (and ultimately abuse) for your own gain. We cannot allow that to happen, for this site and community's long term health.

Signature goes here!

I was just checking Jaywood, indeed.

The permaban came out of nowhere, I was surprised.

Well this was a surprise.
