That doesn't beat PS4. |
Replace the GPU with this for an additional $20 bucks. Brings the PC to $400 bucks even.

That GPU outperforms the PS4.

hey guess what
it's not a big deal.
Been away for a bit, but sneaking back in.
Gaming on: PS4, PC, 3DS. Got a Switch! Mainly to play Smash

Actually it performs the same. That GPU is the 7850 overclocked. 1.843 TFLOPS, which is coincidentally the same as the PS4. And you still need an OS. |
It has only 2GB of Vram, therefore texture quality will suffer compared to PS4 which has access to significantly more.
Incompetent pr work, why ever openly say such a foolish thing is worthy of getting fired. Likely they held one back for the other, has been done in every gen.

You do know that you can't compare PC vs. console specs directly, right? Because closer to the metal APIs and closed specs really give a sizeable boost to what the hardware will deliver in the end. That PC will simply be smoked by the PS4 in the next years. Don't you realize how ridiculous is to afirm that an average Joe can build a PC for the same price and with the same performance than machines that were projected by multi-million dollar companies with the best engineers avaiable, custom hardware, custom and close to the metal APIs and years or R&D? Just think about it. Even the margins you get buying separated parts already makes this completely ridiculous. It's like going out there to buy parts for a car and expect to build a car that will outperform a Bugatti Veyron by half of the price.
I'm sick of this "PC gaming master race" posts all over the forum. This thread is about the fact they gimped the PS4 version to match the X1 version just for business reasons and they stated it themselves. If they gimped the PC version at 900p too because of X1 then we could bring PC to the table here. It's not a performance thing, it's intentionally making the PS4 version worse just to match the other version and people are spinning it to a "PC beats consoles" thing again.

I'm not comparing the specs at all. You guys are. First off, lets get a few things straight:
1) The PS4 cannot smoke the PC... Period. The PS4 can't even do 4k gaming, while the PC can. What a silly thing for you to say.
2) Like I said, I didn't compare specs. I'm comparing performance. The link(s) I provided allow for one to create a PC for $400 bucks or less and provides 1080p AND 60fps gameplay with higher quality visuals.

That's not true. The 265X outperforms the PS4. Digital Foundry has videos proving this.

The answer is still the same. The PS4 won't magically outperform the PC I set up. It can't barely outperform some of the older GPUs out there.
I want to see a PC that doesn't need to be built, that can be bought for $400, that can match the current consoles right out of the box.
Let's define built for this:
Built = anything more than just buying it, bringing it home, plugging it in, and starting a game.
I don't think I am going out on a limb in saying that the majority of people who play console games are not the types that are out building custom PCs.
