Barren Q1-Q2? I thought that Splatoon and Yoshi's Wooly World were both set for Q1-Q2? Does this rumor suggest that they're getting delayed as well?

Compared to the competition that isn't many games.

Woops, missed one, Mario Maker is set for Q1-Q2 as well. 3 games for the 1st half of 2015 isn't exactly barren imo, not when there'll be plenty of smaller e-Shop releases as well. Yes, PS4 and Xbox One will have more games, but only because of 3rd party support, as far as 1st/2nd party goes MS only has Screamride and State of Decay set for Q1-Q2 as far as I know, and Sony has Bloodbourne and The Order.

PS4 has 4 games coming in February alone, and XB1 has 2 games in the same month. And we're talking about 6 months here. Three games in 6 months is VERY barren indeed.

Don't discount third-parties, especially when they are coming with games like The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. Obviously PS4 and XB1 don't need as many first-party games due to them already having enough games overall. That's not the case with Wii U.

I think you're standards are probably lower then what Nintendo expects from the average consumer. Only 3 retail games (is mario maker even retail?) for a whole 6 months is pretty poor. You have literally no choice but to love what they put out, theres no room to have any actual taste or preference otherwise you risk having nothing to play.

Walmart also has the same date as gamefly.
Most likely they delayed the game to not get overshadowed by Smash and amiibo.

I think just about anything would overshadow Captain Toad.

I don`t know.
That kind of games, with such likeable characters, could really sell well during the holidays. And with amiibo integration it could put the game on the map.
But Smash would just be too much for it, i guess.

The core gameplay has already been shown, me thinks, but amiibo might help sell the game.

Having Captain Toad compete with Smash this holiday may not be in their best interest

I dont´t see how purely relying on smash for november, december and january is in the best intrest for nintendo, one game can only do so much

Well they survived holiday 2013 with only 3D World and some smaller titles.

Fair enough but Donkey Kong Country which is comparable with captain Toad in this scenario did not profit from the holidays delay. So I guess it's safe to assume Nintendo got nothing till March except captain Toad.

Please excuse my (probally) poor grammar

Captain Falcon Toad is not even on the level of DK:TF, its a niche of niches and built off a mini-game in another game. Donkey Kong is an established franchise, it just happens to be a relatively small one compared to the other mainstays on Nintendo platforms.

If they do move Toad, its really to get it out from under the shadow of Smash/Kart and all of the promotions that will likely include the former and also 3D World. I wouldn't be surprised if there are some Skylanders deals as well.

Isn't Project Cars supposed to come out in that time frame too.

So DKC, Mario Kart 8, Hyrule Warriors, Bayonetta 2, and Smash (five games) for 2014. At least they're all good games lol.

Fusion era can't come quickly enough for Nintendo, they really cannot handle supporting two platforms in this day and age.

if true this is just further proof that Nintendo needs to unify their platforms in order to release games in a timely manner, they simply cannot provide strong support for two seperate pieces of tech.

I really don't think that would help either. If the games can be designed to work on both handhelds and console, then there's little reason to own both platforms. People seem more than happy to just get their Nintendo fix on the 3DS as it is.

well its not like a whole lot of people are buying both currently. if we assume that every Wii U owner also has a 3DS, then about 1/6 of 3D owners have a Wii U.

a $150 3DS TV would likely sell better than Wii U and it would allow Nintendo to focus all of their attention on a single platform. Games like 3D World, Tropical Freeze, Mario Kart 8, among others would have 6x install base to sell to.

its even worse when u consider 3/5 of those titles are developed/co-developed by 3rd parties.

Perhaps they're adding whether ...
