Forums - Nintendo - Capcom and their Wii "tests" - What are they storing for us Wii owners?

I think it's really safe to assume a First Person Megaman is on the way

It's really just a bunch of bull.

Capcom has already stated that they're a multi-platform company. I really don't what "tests" you guys are talking about. I'm guessing you guys just heard John Lucas say it and decided to go with it. Capcom has already been giving Wii great support. Capcom games for the Wii include the following: Resident 4, Okami, Resident Evil Zero, Zack & Wiki, and Monster Hunter. All of those games are very, very high quality games. Now, let's compare it to the HD support. Capcom games on the HD consoles: Devil May Cry 4, Resident Evil 5, Lost Planet, Dead Rising, Bionic Commando, and Street Fighter IV. If you ask me, the Wii's Capcom support is every bit as good as the HD consoles support.

Personaly, I think you guys are asking for to much. The Nintendo Wii, despite it's sales, is not going to get every game. There's money to be made on every console, and Capcom is taking advantage of that fact. Also, Capcom has stated that Megaman games will be on the Wii and DS. Nintendo fans have nothing to worry about, as Capcom is giving Nintendo's platforms tons of support.

Hey, Capcom called those games "tests" themselves, it's not the Nintendo fans that called it that. One can wonder what Capcom means with "testing" if spin-offs can sell well.

You're right when you say Wii support is about as good as PS360 support from Capcom, but there's a clear difference between the two: PS360 gets all AAA titles and Wii gets the (albeit very good) semi top titles.

Nintendo fans would like a big game or two from Capcom also, you know.

@Riot Of The Blood. i agree with you 100%.

What AAA games are you talking about? The only Capcom game over 90% is Resident Evil 4, which is Capcom's highest rated game this gen and their highest selling. Capcom's second highest rated game, Zack & Wiki, has a higher score than any Capcom game released on the HD consoles. So, if we're to go by reviews, the Nintendo Wii has the best Capcom games available. Okami is also coming next month, and it will be yet another Capcom game that outscores every Capcom game on the HD consoles. It looks to me like you guys are getting enough support from Capcom.

These "tests" aren't tests: they're a way to make a quick buck while Capcom develops bigger games... most likely also for the Wii.

 That's pretty much it.

RE:UC is the only product Capcom has released that represents a substantial investment in the Wii. Monster Hunter 3 will be the next one. The fact that the rest of thier projects are cheap, plus a poor choice of wording by one of their execs, has led some people to interpret that this is all an elaborate examination of the Wii market.

Or they could have simply seen a chance to pay a pittance to some porting teams and see some decent returns. Or in the case of RE4, massive returns. Okami's port probably cost $1 million or less and will probably turn a profit at 100,000 units. You don't need some kind of ulterior 'test' motive to want to publish a title that will get you a quick buck and a stronger presence on this gen's leading platform.

AAA refers to production values, not review averages.

Shooting Cutman in the face ! * drools *

* turns on Wii and plays MP3 once more *

I really must agree with Riot.

I don't understand where all of a sudden all this negativity against Capcom comes from.
I love RE4Wii and Zack & Wiki and I judge a game on it's quality, not on the investment the developer made.
PS3 owners are also unhappy with Capcom, because all these games are suddenly multiplatform, but they make a lot less noise than Wii owners that complain about the one company that created the best games for Wii so far (3rd party that is).

It's very simple, if you don't like RE0 because it won't have the RE4 controls, don't buy it. It's not like Capcom expects it to sell enormous if they don't change the controls.

About the tests: I'm sure the test days are a long way behind us, but don't blame them for wanting a test period. GC was very bad for 3rd parties and no-one knew what the Wii would do.
Capcom and all other devs WILL FOR SURE bring big and original content to Wii, since it sells like crazy and will capture 50% marketshare. They just weren't ready because Nintendo screwed up last gen and came with a very risky new console.

RE0 is probably just a simple remake, but may I remind you that the best RE's are remakes.

Also remember that all of the PS3/360 titles that Capcom has/will have released began development before anyone knew that the Wii would be a sensation. For comparison's sake, at the moment Capcom has in development for PS360 three titles: RE5 (TBA 2009), Bionic Commando (TBA), and Dark Void (TBA 2008), the latter two of which are also coming to the PC. By contrast, Capcom has four in development for the Wii: Two are new exclusives (We Love Golf and Monster Hunter 3), one is a graphically-updated "definitive-edition" port with exclusive controls (Okami), and one is a direct Gamecube port with Wii controls, meaning it might as well be an exclusive (RE0).

Capcom is more committed to the Wii than to any other single platform. The only exclusive they've released or announced for any other console is Dead Rising on the 360, while the Wii has FOUR Capcom exclusives under its belt, plus three exclusive "Wiimakes," and with more likely on the way.

"'Casual games' are something the 'Game Industry' invented to explain away the Wii success instead of actually listening or looking at what Nintendo did. There is no 'casual strategy' from Nintendo. 'Accessible strategy', yes, but ‘casual gamers’ is just the 'Game Industry''s polite way of saying what they feel: 'retarded gamers'."
