Yes. Its dev time is an appropriate length.
Wind Waker and Twilight Princess both took about 3 years to make, and after finishing Skyward Sword, I recall someone (Aonuma? Iwata? Don't remember.) saying this was their target dev time for Zelda games. Skyward Sword was known to have been in development hell for a couple of years, and wound up taking 5 years to make.
A 2015 release already accounts for a one-year 'delay' to compensate for the team's unfamiliarity with HD platforms. Aonuma has shown a much more focused idea of what he wants this game to be than he had for the first couple of years of Skyward Sword development. This new game did not have those problems.
Basically, it's coming in 2015 because if it had the same problems as Skyward Sword, it would be coming in 2017 and Nintendo wouldn't even have mentioned it yet.

I voted yes, mainly because I think Nintendo has to release it next year and it's been in development since before the Wii U was even announced.

I don't know if development of this game really started in earnest until 2012.
It seems to me like they were experimenting with art styles for a while. There's also Link Between Worlds which had to be developed in the interim.
Yes, because Nintendo has confirmed it will, and because it will have been four years since the previous home console version, which is already a year longer than Iwata had wanted after Skyward Sword. He said in 2012 that he hoped the next one would be done in three, but obviously being the first HD Zelda, not to mention expectations increase with each installment, it takes quite a while to make those games.
I would be really surprised if it got delayed again. Four years is a long time.

Yes. The game is basically finished.
I think they are in their polishing and testing stages.
| Egann said: To delay Zelda U to 2016 would be suicidal. The Wii U would be dead in the water. It is INFINITELY more likely they would cut content than delay the game. The Zelda team has a long history of cutting content--especially dungeons--when their backs are up against a deadline, and they usually do a respectable job of making do with other content. If Aonuma really feels the content they're working on is critical to the game, he will insist they push it as a free download. Nintendo might push THAT in early 2016, but not the game itself. I really don't think it will come to that, anyway. Cut content is what will happen. |
Yes, they did that (the bolded) with the Wind Waker and it's pretty noticeable.
Edit: I'd prefer if they delayed the Wii U Zelda rather than adding some annoying fetch quest to make up for cut content.
it wont.... because zelda 2015 will come in like a wrecking ball!!!!!

It will probably be delayed, unless Nintendo has something better for Zelda's 30th anniversary in 2016

To be honest I think most "hardcore" Zelda fans already own a Wii U or will be the end of this holiday. Link in Smash + Mario Kart, Hyrule Warriors, Zelda WWHD, etc. GameCube finished weak but it didn't impact the success of the Wii at all, so I don't really see any huge pressure on Nintendo here. In fact that just goes to show that people have pretty short memories. Wii U is going to sell 17-20 million no matter what, doesn't make a huge difference if Zelda U is there for Nov. 2015 versus April 2016. |
People love Link, but they love a Zelda game, more! :D
We can`t really compare GC and Wii. Had Wii been just another console with better graphics, the most likely scenario would be that it would indeed impact Wii.
I`m not sure that delaying Zelda, even for a few months won`t hurt the games sales or even Wii U.
It wouldn`t be the first time that a Zelda game got released after the holiday period, but wouldn`t it be bought by more people during Christmas or TG - as a present?
For some reason, companies put a lot of games close to the holiday season, and when a lot of companies see a lot of growth.
