It's true that absolute game sales are important but your refusing to acknowledge the circumstances that were faced on the PS3 and that DOES matter to the overall sales performance on the other versions.

I am not refusing to acknowledge it. All I'm saying it doesn't matter to the developer. After all, game hardly sold anything on Japan. They chose to localize 360 version, and the fanbase WAS BORN on that console; on that platform.

We can only speculate what would have happened if it had been Ps3 the localized version, but we can't say anything for certain.

So the developer chose the platform where the fanbase supposedly was. Doesn't matter if Ps3 had difficult times; after all, it wasn't there were the fanbase was born.

So you think the developper thought " DP fanbase = Swery fanbase" ? It needs more than one game to build a fanbase around a developper.

Since DP and D4 are 2 different games, it would have been more logical from Swery to see on which platform this kind of games sells well. So i dont think it was the reason of their choice, it's not really logical

Predictions for end of 2014 HW sales:

 PS4: 17m   XB1: 10m    WiiU: 10m   Vita: 10m

They made the deal for the wrong console, and with the wrong company, thanks to Microsoft, we are fucked, we paid the first part and we will never get a sequel ...

The game isn't set up for being a game with sequels it tells a single story and is done after that.

Thought it was episodic, especially with the cliffhanger that people talked about.

Its episodic but its not set up for a sequel once the story is told its done.

When i said sequel, i meant sequel to the story, the game should have several seasons

Why not? Developers do that all the time. Despite developing some previous games for playstation, Swery was probably satisfied with the success of DP on 360.

It happened with Final Fantasy, for example: Despite all the previous entries being on Nintendo, the seventh went to Playstation and from there on, Nintendo was neglected of Final Fantasy aside from spin-offs for the rest of eternity.

Was it fair to the Nintendo fanbase? At least in the case of Deadly Premonition, it went multiplatform after a while. Nintendo consoles never saw FF7.

Just to put you an example I could think of.

Swery probaly chose the platform that was willing to fund his game and not keep the IP. We've seen Sony platforms lose games for that reason.

Hence, its not always a matter of "where will my product sell best."

Ohhhh It is always better to try yourself give your impressions after... maybe it just the videos the Kinect controls looks akwards and you can play without it.

The Kinect controls are akward for the general navigation but fun for the QTE almost finished the whole game using the Kinect switched to the controller towards the end to speed things up.

How doesn't it matter for the developers ? It's a clear loss of sales potential and that does have a detriment to the overall game sales ...

Yes it's true that we won't know what will have happened in that alternate universe but if we assume that almost everything was held true in that alternate universe then it's pretty obvious that the game would have sold better had it been released earlier since a lot of Japanese games tend to fare better on the PS3 rather than the xbox 360, sales wise.

What do you think of the Final Fantasy 7 example I put?

Never heard of this game.

Nope, once he finds out who killed his wife the game is done.  Also it could be wrapped up pretty quickly since what looks like to be the main killer shows up at the end of the first installment.
