Forums - Nintendo - WatchDogsGame Account Tweets WatchDogs on Wii U Won’t Have DLC – Quickly Removes Tweet

As a Wii U owner I am happy to have the opportunitty to buy a high profile ,3rd party game - I don t understand why so many Nintendo fans denounce the game like previous ,3rd party games then complain about it being delayed and decide to Boycott the game that you had already announced you would not buy, Then get upset that DLC may not be released for this same game.

Step 1: 3rd party announces game for Wii u. - Denounce game as inferior to 1st party software and announce you will not be purchasing said 3rd party release

Step 2: game release is delayed- Announce Boycott of game you were not going to purchase anyway

Step 3: DLC may not come to said game that no one was going to buy and further boycotted

Step 4: Boycott developer that has announced they will not be supporting the Wii u platform due to poor sales

Step 5: call developer stupid for not throwing good money after bad

Ubisoft guys: "hey boss how do we sabotage the already sabotaged WatchDogs game on WiiU even more?"

Ubisoft Boss: "tweet it wont get DLC. But do so before it launches on WiiU! Should be sufficient"

Ubisoft guys: "très magnifique!"

You got it wrong. It is like this

Step 1: 3rd party announces WiiU game. - Based on prior events and how games ended up ...Userbase will threat to boycott the game when it again will be not taking advantage of the hardware its running on  e.g having 25fps etc. Publicaly announce to not buy the game when it really will be subpar to remind the dev/pulisher "this is not how you should treat us!"

Step 2: game release is delayed which results in customer feeling like a second class citizen  AGAIN! and whose anticipation for the game just got killed.  Also shows that dev/publisher really does not give a fuck about that specific userbase.  - Tell dev/publisher how delaying it will result in bad sales and that this will (again based on prior experience) probably result in "Games dont sell on Nintendo hardware".
Also highlight how dev/publisher has double standards by saying "We cant release Rayman legends on WiiU and then 1 year later on PS360 because noone would buy it. They will think its an old game so we also delay the finished Wiiu version"  but when the delayed version is a Nintendo version it suddenly is okay?  Finally decide to not buy the game.

Step 3: Game content will be missing only for that one version. Again dev/publisher sending  a big FUCK YOU to the Nintendo userbase. People just reminding others that they wont buy the game NOT just because of step 3 but because of all steps combined and pointing out how step 3 is not really helping to fix the problem.

Step 4: Publisher/dev who constantly says FUCK YOU and is boycotting the system by offering sabotabed versions now starts to boycott even more by threatening with absence because people dont buy the sabotaged games. Does so without telling the truth but instead lies and comes up with excuses like "userbase to small" even tho other systems have less users or started at exactly 0.

Step 5: Third party will be absent but still wants to make money with crap shovelware. Turns the userbase into a "shovelware userbase" on purpose and just offers crap and then wonders why people hesitate in buying their games,

Step 6: Third party will come back years later after neglecting the userbase for way to long and after offering just shovelware. Brings out 1 or 2 good games probably still subpar but still semi-acceptable (not awesome!) finds out userbase is extremely hesitant because
A) they got used to not having your games so they dont really need them
B) they are irritated because the last games you brouight to the system were crap shovelware games.  So there is no guarantee the games will be any good
C) your IP could not establish because you were absent. (so guaranteed size of target group is obviously smaller by default!)
Third party complains that the Nintendo userbase does not buy third party games compared to other systems (ignoring A,B and C)

Step 7: Third party punishes Nintendo userbase with even crappier ports with less effort put into them with crappier performance.

(REPEAT!)
Step 1: 3rd party......................................
Step 2: ........

Dude, you've got your steps a little messed up.

Step 1: 3rd part announces Game for Wii U -- Shows interest along with the rest pf the gamers.

Step 2: Game is delayed -- Okay... Okay... we understand you need more time

Step 3: Game is delayed on wii U but comes to other system on time --.... Okay... We're a little pissed now.

Step 4: Company announces they are dropping support except for crapdance ---lolol OMFG We don't buy your games because they don't run properly on our system of choice, heck we bought 700k copies of Zombie U and have asked for a sequel but you don't give a s***.

Step 5: Game gets release date 9 months later when all other 1st party big games are coming -- lol are we supposed to care now? Smash comes out right after and Sonic boom is looking pretty damn good too I might get it but chances are low

Step 6: No DLC .... Okay That's it screw you on a whole.  We supported crappy ports and asked for 1 good idea to get a sequel but you're treating us like dirt. Nope Screw you ubisoft.

Step 7: Game flops hard and probably runs at 15FPS.

A month later when there was nothing out and the hype was still there from MK8 would have been a perfect time as well.

A week or two after Smash would be good as well since hype will be high and it is the holidays as well. Having it's own event, some advertising and some sort of perks. Too close to smash will just help it get lost in the shuffle, and forget about any pre-ordering of it.

Too many posts that I want to answer... lets choose a few ones only.

A month later would mean sacrificing the release date of the other versions, which is a VERY BAD bussiness decision, just to get a few extra copies sold for the Wii U.

2 Weeks after Smash would mean AFTER black friday, which would be financial suicide specially for Nintendo related software which gets a higher increase during the holiday season.

The game was done till recently (why is a different topic) and the november month is already very crowded for the company, they would LOVE to place it on a better date, but short of a miracle it would be impossible to move it forward at least for a week. Their logic now is more like... "if you want something mature for the console you really don't have any choice, and the extra sales generated by the release of Smash could make new console owners to look for additional games for their collection, so there is nothing much else to lose"

Don't worry WiiU owners. You're not missing anything. Just a mediocre sandbox game with a hacking gimmick.

I'd recommend GTAV instead...

Err how about Sleeping Dogs?

Wait no...

Maybe you should just buy Lego City.

Hey, Lego city is surprisingly good, particularly the script and writing. If you manage to ignore the few generic lego stages in between the campaign there's fun to be had here

Ubi clearly lost faith on WiiU after ZombieU reception.

Ubisoft lost faith after Assassin's Creed IV first month of sales, sure the sales of ZombiU were dissapointing but there was still hope (you know the install base is not there yet, the reviews were not that great, and so on) but after releasing Splinter Cell, Rayman Legends and finally Assassin's Creed IV and getting lackluster results, even compared to PS4 and Xbox One who had NO install base at all, they just gave up and decided to sacrifice the Wii U edition of Watch_dogs (they split it and put them to help the other teams) to release the other Before E3 2014 and risking losing the hype for the game.

I think he is mocking the fact that we don't really have a lot of options if we want sandbox MATURE games, sure Lego City is a lot of fun, but it came out ages ago and there is nothing more to enjoy.

Rayman was a good game and sold pretty well. Splinter Cell and Assassins Creed on the other hand were bad ports.

A friend of mine is playing PC games 640x480 because his GPU is so crappy he also has a framerate of 28fps or so. I cant stand low framerate but he does not really notice it. When a game is stuttering for me its still running fine in his opinion.

When he bought AC4 for his WiiU  and started it for the first time he said "OMFG whats with the shit framerate!" And never played it again.
I laughed hard

AC4 for the Xbox One also was a low quality port compared to the competition, and that did not stop it from selling x4 the amount of the Wii U version, without ANY install base to begin with, by the way AC4 was patched on Wii U and the framerate did improved a little bit (though is still not at the same level as the other versions), and I have read a lot of comments mentioning "I keep hearing about these framerate issues, but they were never a problem for me", "it's a very good looking game and I've have very little issue with frame drops", and so on.

I have the game (bough it first week) but I have not yet played it, but from the comments of some of my friends is faaaaar from a "bad port" is just not polished enough, that did not stop it from getting good reviews and awful sales.

Well, they probably signed a contract with Nintendo before Wii U's launch and try to do fulfill it with the least effort possible.

They did not, the developers just want to complete the work they already started, but the company wants indeed to do the least effort possible, it is the version that is going to sale the worst by far, so why spend more resources on it? keep a team of people who could make them more money on other projects comited to provide DLC to the 10k gamers who may buy it? it does not make any sense at all. Now if by some Festivus miracle the title sells a ton of units (which will not happen) they may reconsider, but right now it would be the stupidest idea ever from a business perspective.
