They haven't changed their scales at all. Like I said, go look at how metacritic operates on what it defines "good" or "bad" and where its colors change. It literally operates and weighs scores, those aggregate numbers we're throwing around, using the right scale. You can go an do this right now and see this very fact., Reviewers do this too, where a game they find to be bad will still end up with a 5 or 6 because it is objectively functioning as a "thing" and little else. In fact the weighting is even worse now because you have reviewers that are working off of set-5, or reviewers that work off of a binary scaling of "Yes" or "No".
No matter how much you may want to keep repeating it, it just isn't true. 77 is average to above-average since it is farther from 7 than it is from 8.
