HORRIFIC numbers for Bayonetta 2. As many have pointed out already, it has failed to even come close to the Xbox 360 version of the original... how sad is that.

This proves that the only people who buy Nintendo's consoles truly don't care about anything aside from Mario and his Super Smash bunch... Nintendo shouldn't even bother with games like these, and let other publishers take these games to other platforms where they will actually be successful, accessible and likely to spawn more sequels.

That's the freaking point, no other publisher wanted to pick up Bayonetta.

The game wouldn't even exist if it wasn't for Nintendo.    First game did so bad that Sega had cancelled the sequel.

This is what the game would look like if Nintendo left P* alone to find another publisher:

This proves that the Bayonetta 1 fans only come into Nintendo forums to try and get more of the butthurt out of their ridiculously long assholes.

Bayonetta 2 was released on the 20th. This is for the week 9/15 - 9/21. It was released for one day and still managed to take the 3rd spot.

Thank you. Puts things in a much different light.

Expected as much. It did slightly better than DK did in its first week, so that's nice at least.

I'm just going to focus on the fact that EDGE gave the game a perfect 10/10 and that they called it the Wii U's "first true classic" and "the best game of its type ever made". http://www.computerandvideogames.com/477447/bayonetta-2-review-edge-awards-sequel-1010-score/

Just a reminder to people who are going to shout "Sold less than 360 version of Bayonetta"...

Nintendo systems typically produce longer tails in game sales than other systems. It's too early to say anything about how it'll sell in any ongoing sense. At the very least, wait for week 2 - both versions of the first game dropped by about 80% in the second week, which would correspond to sales of about 8k for the Wii U version. My prediction is that it holds relatively steady - maybe 25k.

Anyway, my point is, first-week sales have never been a good predictor for Nintendo systems, beyond the obvious (if it sells 1 million in week 1, it's probably going to do pretty well).

Polygon will definitely neutralize this score, though.

It is quite the opposite. It will be a uphill battle, but it is one that Nintendo needs to fight in order to remain competitive.

What they need is more M-Rated content in order to show that their consoles can be for everyone.

I also want to see the second week sales before jumping to any conclusions, but yea, those numbers should have been better. Maybe Smash and Destiny wiped the discretionary income of japanese gamers last week, leaving little space for Bayonetta 2.

Bayonetta 2 will sell better in the states, with luck this game can still achieve 500k end of 2014
Lifetime 750k is possible. But it sure as hell won´t be a million seller, still getting it though, so Europe has at least one sale.

About smash I´m quessing smash bros for 3ds in Japan will sell more units in 2014 than smash for wii U worldwide considering the 21st of november release.

Please excuse my (probally) poor grammar
