Big but very short spikes for hardware in Japan this generation, such a volatile market this has turned out to be. Bayo 2 not giving the amazing boost some seemed to believe it would, the effect is likely to be even smaller in the West. 100k first week globally and 300k lifetime?

when Wonderful 101 can do 300k lifetime, Bayonetta 2 should be able to do quite a bit more than that.

How overtracked is it on VGC? We know it's only at 15k lifetime in Japan (making it way overtracked in that region alone).

Sigh... Now now now, you do realise that in april Japan had a tax hike, and that specific hike wasn't small either right? The Wii U and PS4(coming off of launch though) were doing above 10k before the hike. Game sales were also much higher before the hike. The Market was also weaker than it was in 2009 before the tax hike. Yes, it didn't do well in its debut but all of it is easily explained. Bayo 2 wont flop in the west. It quite possibly might hit 1mil but I put it in the 700k+ range world wide at this moment. We'll see what happens after the holiday season.

sold less on wiiu then ist predecessor on 360 in japan, avoid reality all you want.

a game liek B2 will flop hard on the wiiu, wrong crowd for this type of game.

Honestly the sales of Bayonetta 2 are not worse than most expected....not that I would call it great.. PS4 is falling fast in Japan..I guess this year it will be not PS4's year...Next year will be..

Jesus Christ. It got a boost from Destiny the previous week. It's not 'falling fast' it's simply stabalised. There's always so much hyperbole on this site following a spike.

you say stabilize before you see the next weeks, how do you know that it wont get back to 5k?15 drop is big:P

No if you sell two or more weeks around the same units we would consider it stabalised.. It has the possibility to sell next week 7K and lower..

Let's just agree to disagree. but one thing, expound on your "wrong crowd" because if this leads back to nintendo being "kiddy" I'm gonna ignore you.

Even then we're talking lifetime here. It might take some years, but 300k for Wonderful 101 is certainly possible. Even if the game is sold for $5.

Then ignore the industry as a whole, they see it as just like that and even ignore nintendo.  They been preaching certain types of games and denouncing others for a while now.

Which is why it's pointless to argue with folks regarding spikes. There's generally an unwarranted doom-and-gloom aura. At face value, Destiny is a Western game that gave a Japanese machine a moderate boost in Japan. Frankly, it  did more than I expected.

People talk about "struggling", but in reality, unless these machines were pumping out Japanese games every week with such an issue, the sales make total sense. 2015 will a different time, especially for PS4.

I agree. I can't see the PS4 performing as well as the top selling consoles of all time but I can see it doing reasonably well. When more Japanese centric games release, I think it's within reason to assume it will sell 25k - 30k weekly (ignoring spikes and a weeks cool down of course). And I think there's a huge chance that some of those spikes will be massive.

The PS5 Exists.

Well, things could've been worse. I was expecting Bayonetta 2 under 30k and XB1 under 1k.

Lowered expectations means that they're still both terrible numbers for each respectively, but still.

Vita doing badly. Hopefully DanganRonpa might do something next week,

Otherwise, a very unexciting week all around.
