Forums - Nintendo - 2015 for Wii U will be nowhere near the droughts we had in 2013 and 2014

I think they'll have a solid 2015 in part because some of these games have likely been in development for a very long time. Xenoblade is probably nearing 3 years in development by the end of this year.

Yoshi's Wooly World was first shown like 2 years ago and when it was shown it probably already had been in development for 4-6 months at least.

Splatoon was fully playable last June, I think another 9-12 months of development there should ensure it being done.

Fatal Frame V is finished. Mario Party is probably very close to being finished.

Mario Maker is a small project that can grow via DLC.

Jan - Nothing (usually an empty month)

Feb - Mario Party 10 (keep those amiibos selling)

Mar - Yoshi's Wooly World

Apr - Fatal Frame V

May - Mario Maker

June - Splatoon

July - Super Mario Collection Vol. 1 (SM64 + Sunshine)

August - Kirby Rainbow Curse

September - Xenoblade X

October - Devil's Third

November - Legend of Zelda

December - Star Fox U: Episode I or Pokken Fighters

There will be.

This time last year we didn't know about Hyrule Warriors, Sonic Boom, Bayonetta 1, or Captain Toad, yet they're all coming out this year.

Plus, Retro Studios have been free since Feb, and I doubt they've been sitting idle.

I think the larger EAD Tokyo group is already working on Mario Galaxy 3 (or whatever they want to call the next big 3D Mario game), but it's for the Fusion platform launch window, not Wii U.

Wii U has gotten or is getting NSMBU + Luigi U, Mario 3D World, Mario Maker, and possibly will get a Galaxy 1/2 HD Collection (Mario 64/Sunshine remakes too?), that's plenty of Mario for a system that is their lowest selling console.

There's no point in wasting another 3D Mario on Wii U, if you haven't bought one with NSMBU + NSLU, Mario Maker, Mario 3D World, Mario Kart 8, Smash Bros, Mario amiibos, possibly Mario Galaxy 1/2/Mario 64/Sunshine remakes (?) ... odds are you were never going to buy one any way for any type of Mario game.

The next Nintendo platform *must* have an incredible launch or their future in the game hardware business begins to look very poor indeed. They cannot repeat the 3DS and Wii U launches.

I agree, but there is a zero chance to see Galaxy 1/2 HD Collection on Wii U, becuse you can play those games in Wii mod, but there a good chance to see Sunshine remake.

I think there a good chance Star Fox to be delayed for 2016., Zelda maybe but I don't think so, all other games will be released in 2015.

Also, there are maybe and Fatal Frame, Pokken Fighters, Fire Emblem X (2016),  that rumored HD remake (Sunshine), and most likely something we don't know anything about it.

More games doesnt mean better year...

DK TF + MK8 + Bayonetta +SSB, it will be difficult to do better than that

Predictions for end of 2014 HW sales:

 PS4: 17m   XB1: 10m    WiiU: 10m   Vita: 10m

2013 & 2014 weren't supposed to have any droughts either but did. Wii Fit U, Pikmin 3, Wonderful 101, Rayman Legends, Lego City Undercover, Game & Wario were all supposed to be launch/launch window exclusives yet 4/6 of them released in the second half of 2013. It was also promised that the droughts would end once Mario Kart released but nothing notable came out for another 3-4 months.

Just because Nintendo announced a lot of games for 2015 doesn't mean some won't get delayed or that they will be spaced throughout the year. Just like 2013/2014, I'm expecting one major exclusive per quarter in Q1-Q3 then 3-4 during the holiday quarter.
