I get the feeling this is going to be a popular gift game. Certainly a number of people will buy it for themselves day 1. Beyond that, friends and family know somebody who 1. Likes Zelda. 2. Wants this game but hasn't bought it 3. Has a wii u / is getting one.

It's an effect that's hard to put into words....

I don't know... a full priced game is too expensive for a gift in my country, so I would not know, do you get many games as gifts? do you give games as gifts?

To be fair, I doubt hyrule warriors will retain its value nearly as long as your typical nintendo game.  Musou games find their way into the bargain bins much faster than most games, many dropping ten to twenty dollars in price after just a month on the shelves, often times even more.  By the holiday season it could well get a huge price cut just to get more people through the doors in hopes of getting people to buy other crap with a higher profit margin.

In Australia, there is some serous excitement for the game. Very happy it does perform well in UK. Hope Europe does give it a push. And I cannot wait for USA/Canada sales!

Will Hyrule Warriors move WiiUs?! The real question is that one!

Nintendo games usually don't come down in price very fast, and when they do is not a big amount... for holiday 2014 I don't think we will see the game cheaper than 50 U$, maybe on holiday 2015...

You used math...it has to be true!

I don't hate Microsoft, I don't hate PC,
I don't prefer Sony, I don't prefer Nintendo.
...Ok, I love Nintendo but this is something about tolerance, ok?

I'm a gamer with one of the greatest hobbies and I want to share this greatness with everyone.

That's why I said I doubt it would retain its value as long as a typical nintendo game.  I have no proof of it of course, but just call it a gut feeling.

Around holidays, I may from time to time receive a game as a gift from my wife or rest of family. They tend to buy games that have high-profile IP attached to it. That's how I usually end up getting games like Call of Duty, Just Dance, or even Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games.

I've added more niche games to my list in the past -- but if it's something unfamiliar to the gift-giver, they still end up getting a game with a more established brand to it. I don't think I'm the only one in the US that's experienced this. Though in places where games are less common/more expensive, I doubt that takes place as much.

I predict NX launches in 2017 - not 2016

Lucky you, here the games are very expensive (around 84 U$) and never go down in price on official stores, but you can get them at good prices in the grey market, the problem is that the non-initiated people (moms, aunts, cousins, etc) that could get you a game for your birthday/christmas don't know how to buy games in the grey market to get them at a discounted prices (20 U$ to 45 U$), so they can only get to the official stores and find them at 84 U$  and that is too expensive for a gift here.

Unfortunately your maths is wrong because HW week is The Sims 4's 3rd week, which means going by VGC The Sims 4 is actually 8,600

Hyrule warriors will move more systems than people think. Me and my sisters were sitting down watching (we tape them both) gurren laggan or AOT on toonami. We were fast forwarding through it and my sister rewinded it just to see the commercial and Automatically she wants it. Now she would buy a wii U for it but we do not have the money for one or we would already have it, I'm pretty sure it will have the same effect on others who actually have the money to go out and buy the wii U and even if it doesn't do the significant push it will help bolster the holiday season. Both this and bayonetta are some dark horses which may or may not surprise people.

Both games would be lucky to hit 0.5 or 0.7M right now. Hardly system sellers.
