Forums - Microsoft - Where is the Sunset Overdrive expectation?

I don't think this was ever going to be a big mainstream hit. Especially being exclusive to Xbox which doesn't have an audience for this type of game. I'm guessing 1.5m lifetime but we'll see if it can prove me wrong.

Xbox owns an IP called Crackdown. It has a following and the game that most resembles it right now is Sunset Overdrive.

It only needs a massive marketing push to make it successful. Gaming journalists that played it, like it a lot.

The first Crackdown (which had the Halo 3 beta) sold 1.7m. Crackdown 2 sold just barely over 1m.

1.5m for Sunset Overdrive seems like a solid prediction judging from these sales.

I can sell more. Crackdown was requested a lot by Xbox community. The reason C2 failed to surpass 1st one sales, was due to the fact that the development process was a nightmare. The original makers and Microsoft couldn't come to an understanding and Crackdown 2 was handed to Ruffian, a newly formed studio, which didn't have much time to develop a solid story.

Hopefully SO will spark and light up the interest on Crackdown 3 and biuld a big fan base for both games.

Insomniac has been a mediocre studio for years now. The last great game they did was ACiT. R2 was a complete mess that ruined what was great about the first, Fuse was terrible, A4O and FFA were both cheap cash ins and R3 was just okay.

I feel like, were it not because it was Insomniac's first Xbox exclusive, it wouldn't get near the same attention (as if, if it were multiplat).

The game itself feels like it lacks a certain charm. From vida, it seems like there's something missing, gameplay wise and it doesn't do enough to draw me jnto an X1, though it does look like they could finally make a comeback with it. So essentially, if I had to put it into a number, I'd say it looks like a 7.5/10 game, likely will land in the lower 80s, metacritic wise

I feel it's definitely getting overhyped a bit, it won't be a system seller.

there usual average sales is about how good they'll do...,wasnt there a bundle that wasnt exactly being swallowed up with pre-orders? wouldnt be surprised if they're bought up by sony in the future, and get back to making good r&c and resistance games

In fact there is a Ratchet game incoming next year, Sony anounced it will be a total remake of the first one and it will be made by insomniac, so lets see.

Pretty straightforward stuff we've known about for a while now.

Game looks pretty great, Gametrailers just did an editorial report on it where they talked about the opening hours of the game and they seemed to like it alot. i feel like insomniac have learned from their mistakes with their last couple of games and really want to deliver a fun experience with this new title.
