Anything that switches from Sony to Nintendo becomes a legend Xeno-series, Fatal Frame, Bayonetta and Resident Evil (while it lasted) are a few examples.

It's just sad how people don't appreciate characters/games for what they are. A non-written, vessel character such as Link is preferred over a well written, complex character like Joel.

Yeah, I think alot of voters here just vote for the protagonist of their favourite game series, and not actually their favourite character.

Don't forget Monster Hunter.

Link is actually an excellent protagonist in Wind Waker and Majora's Mask. Not exactly Joel levels of complexity, but that's because those games are about a child learning to accept change and the end of childhood and not about a jaded middle-aged man trying to survive in a post-apocalyptic world and dealing with all kinds of spoilery shit.

Anyway, 2-for-17 isn't exactly a good record.
