My imppresion on the gameplay session:

The animations are varied and very well made, some need more polishing, but that is expected at this point of development. Even the walking animation changes depending on the situation ( running around or walking toward an enemy) I was really amazed by the details and the soft animation of the clothe

The combat system, the fantasy theme of the game really benefits the combat. The swords keep disappearing and reappearing in a way that keeps the player hooked, and also adds to the battle a wide variety of moves and attacks on the fly. What I loved about it is the ability to interact with the environment while you are in middle of all that, the way you can warp away from attacks to a certain elements in the environment, them warp back to attack in such a cool way. It really adds a strategic depth to the system, as you have to precisely pick your position. In addition to that you also have to keep an eye on the real-time command menu to manage your magic, items, summons. That is a system requires a skill and awareness of your surroundings. All of that make the battle system much more dynamic and engaging in comparison to other aRPGs like the Witcher or even RPGs in general..

I wonder where they got that from :P

Ya in KH you can summon and dismiss ur keyblade in and out of combat.

"According to Tabata, combat isn’t about pressing a button once for a single action to happen.

“Rather, they are a continuous flow of movements,” Tabata told Kotaku. “It’s more about the movements that are associated with the buttons and building upon them for actions through the combat system.”

Playing it will feel “very natural,” Tabata said. “The way a game play has to feel good.”

To Game Informer, he said, “We won’t go into too much detail, but you can switch between an offensive stance and a defensive stance with the push of a button.”

At the Tokyo Game Show, Tabata shared few combat details, but said that holding down the attack button creates a string of interlinking attacks, while holding down the defend button will guard enemy attacks.

Speaking to 4Gamer, Tabata said gameplay is less about focusing on menus and more about playing around and navigating 3D spaces, albeit with predetermined moves. He describes it as similar to Final Fantasy XII‘s Gambit System.

There are no menu commands in combat. It controls like an action game where players switch between offense and defense. You can only control Noctis, but you can give orders to other party members. And there are menus to give commands to everyone, swap out weapons, etc.

Noctis can teleport around battlefields by throwing sword and getting it to stick in places, Tabata told 4Gamer. There are existing conditions that limit how it can be used, although they can change depending on battlefield conditions.

The effects of magic can also affect enemies in more abstract ways, Tabata told Famitsu. Fire, for instance, can make enemies run away from the heat.

As for enemy encounters, “it’s all seamless.”

“You’ve got enemies that are roaming around in all areas…there’s not an ‘encounter,’ per se. It’s all seamless,” Tabata told Game Informer.

So it's more or less like XIIs combat?

Not sure how I feel about that.

The way he describes it, it sounds more like Lightning Returns than XII, but that wouldn't be smart thing to say..

So more or less like like LR with controllable AI?

Doesn't sound too bad honestly.

The combat system in LR was praised by almost all reviews. add to that full real-time, more fluidity and controllable AI. I think we have a winning formula here.

Yeah. LR's combat is tied in first place with Type-0 as my favorite combat system in the franchise. I almost forgot what XII was like so I had to refresh my memory a bit.

I haven't been so hyped for a game since Skyrim. I hope once people actually gets ahold of the demo in March, it won't be a let down.

the interview was great, today i was having some doubts about the game and i was wondering if it could suffer a downgrade in graphics like watchdogs, afterall FFXV looks simply to good to be true, but after reading the interview i have confidence that it will at least look as good as it does now, since its supposedly only at 70% and their aiming to 100%, and the demo will be at 80% (better looking that the trailers).

i expect this game to release in 2016, and if we are lucky late 2015. (i really hope we are lucky).
also im kind of dissapointed that you can only control one character but oh well its one amazing character plus the game really is open world and i get to DRIVE the car so that makes it up for me.
