Forums - Gaming - Does MS really deserve praise for "listening" to consumers ??

Does anybody do anything except react to sales? When you see your competition do something that works, you emulate it. Maybe you try something that works and the competition copies you. Every company has flip flopped. You don't praise a company for it. You don't condemn a single company for it, either.

People easily will. If you emotionally piss them off. That's the diff between the PS3 fuck ups and the XB1. PS3 really was one. "$599 US dollars" "$599 US dollars" "$599 US dollars". You can also could say the removal of PS2 BC and that comment of working harder for a PS3. Which MS repeated. WTF was that. But was really minor. Xbox was all over the place. Price, intelligenace insults, telling people what they should need, lying every time people wanted one answer to DRM, etc. It was too many things all at once that made MS shoot their foot.

Microsoft did not make all of these moves out of good will and certainly not out of some sort of benevolence from the cockles of their hearts. The market has dictated and they have reacted, nothing more.

Isn't that the same as any other company?

Love the product, not the company. They love your money, not you.

They deserve just as much praise as Sony does for last Gen and the way they reduced prices :).

Their situation and Sony's last gen are completely different. Sony put a new format which was expensive into the platform but it hiked up the price. MS was about the drag everyone to DRM Hell with them.

Buying Sony PR BS all the way, are we? They always had the choice of not putting that Bluray player in, but they did it since they were a big investor into the format and used their fans to get a foothold in the marketplace. At least I acknowledge that they both behave exactly the same way whenever they come from having a strong position in the market.

You do realize this makes no sense right? Sony didn't know blue ray would be a problem till after they lanched. Since the PS3 was not only developed to use BluRay but it also had Blu-ray games, it would be impossible for them to change without worsening the situation if not killing the system outright.

Notice, How Sony stuck with Blu-Ray, took a loss on the system, and the price was only reduced after manufacturing methods went down in price.

Disc based games are a hindrance.

I wish I hadn´t have to go up and switch between discs... The risk of damaging or lost the disc is also an anoyance.

Voice comands are also great, specially for DD games, movies and apps. But they still need improviment, which I think it might be affect by Kinect not being bundle to every console any more.

If Microsof is listening to me, hey should remove the disc drive and re-bundle the Kinect.

Well considering I have seen lots of people praise Sony for correcting their PS3 mistakes during last gen, then I would guess that yes, Microsoft deserves that same praise? Yet somehow I feel VGC will flip flop on the matter now and say a company doesn't deserve credit for responding to poor decisions and changing them.

Lots of people are saying "well they only changed after bad numberz1111!" well... duh? As opposed to the "well shit this thing is selling so well, lets change it!" line of thinking we constantly see in business? lol.

LOL. That is the best tl;dr image I have ever seen. Saved.

TLDR: If you ignore someone, then react to their request later, that is not listening to them.

Fact of the matter is:

Microsoft heard the requests of the consumer right after they revealed, they opened preorders and did not change anything till they launched.

If you ignore someone, then react to their request later, that is not listening to them.

All the changes they made to the Xbox 1 was not because people asked, if it was the changes would be made then, or even attempted then. No, stop joking, the only difference between the point when XB1 revealed and XB1 launched where the sales. The only reason XB1 changed at all is because they wereare getting their asswhopped. There is nothing wrong with that, but don't pretend its because they were listening to consumers.

Sure they might have heard the consumers complaints, but they didn't even release a letter saying were considering it. That would actually require listening. Sony listened, they released a video mocking MS day of, and they got huge positive PR from that, no body could hear the random fanboys claiming that PS4 had DRM too because nobody cared. Even if the PS4 was going to have DRM, at the very least they listened and actually addressed the consumers. That's the difference.

So stop pretending, you can change goalposts or try to distract from the conversation by saying MS changes to the XB1 and abandonment of its original vision was "admirable". Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, and while I'm only impressed that Xbox even still has support rather than the shit they had to do to even have a fighting chance, even as an opinion, its delusional to beleive that MS listened, and thats why they changed things

TLDR: If you ignore someone, then react to their request later, that is not listening to them.

Congratulations, MS is spending their billions of dollars to help their side buisness be more competitive. If you want to praise Xb, because that is what you do fine, go ahead, but don't do it under the pretense of them listening to consumers because that is a blatant lie.
