Forums - Gaming - Which console is the best for indies?

(Sorry, screwed up with the poll.) So, which should I develop for?

PS4 113 47.68%

XB1 5 2.11%

PS4+XB1 4 1.69%

Wii U 71 29.96%

I'd still tell you to go for PC anyway. 44 18.57%

Total:237

It's just out of date I guess you'd say.

The option to register as just a wii u indie and skip most of the paperwork in the warioworld link was only introduced a little over a year ago.

probably differnet procedures In north america all the dev's i've talked to our european

I'm in the US so that could be a possibility.

Just realized OP is in the Philippines.

That changes things a lot. You'd be working with the Japanese branches I think, and also you'd have to make sure they support shipping development hardware to your country. I really can't be much help then, sorry.

Is this even really up for debate? It would be like asking: "What platform is best for playing Halo games?"

All Hail the Jester King. The King is back, and I am still a dirty girl prof ;)

PC. Though its not a console. Then PS4, then XBONE, then PS3, then X360, then Wii U.

There are a lot of indie games that never seen before on PC(Steam & Desura)

Weird, always PS4? :S

For indies, pc is the best way to go.

And if i want a console full of indies i'd choose a ps4.

This is an honest question.

If you were an indie dev, which console(s) do you think would be the best to put your games on?

No joke about this, I want to develop eventually as a side job (or a hobby). I want to ignore the PC for now, and if I would, I'd go cross-platform between Windows 8 and Windows Phone. But, that's just me.

(And, yes, I know about The Letter fiasco.)

I would say: shortterm it is the PS4, longterm it is definitely X1. MS are looking into crossplatform releases for indie games, making it supereasy for a developer to release on X1, W8.1 and WP8.1 at the same time, meaning your audience grows very much, while you only have to focus on developing in one environment.

Can't argue with The Tomorrow Children or Rime!
