As ceo of sony 25 AAA games cause we are doing shit in all other stuff we try.. As MS ceo: minecraft cause in the end it will make waay more money then 25 AAA games bolstering our entire company and other services we provide.. As a gamer 2.5 billion in B games.. i actually think a lot of AAA games have been dissappointing the last few years.. Sure for those 2.5B can give you a lot of new gears, killzone, cods, gt, forza, AC, battlefield games but do i really want that? Nope i want a Vanquish, Binary Domain, Metal Gear Rising, Nier, Folklore.. More of that less AAA |
It makes sense... but them could be 100 niche games or varied budget (as gamer)... but it makes sense as MS to invest 2.5B in something to unify their plats instead of just games (even more when they could do both at the same time =p)

Well, that was one of the reasons the deal had gone through, the fact that Fox,Disney and two more big content companies also in further talks right now, among all cable providers for basic channels in cable and sat. Viacom hold 25% of the Market, and above a determined Apple and Google and even Microsoft Sony was able to secure this deal. On top of that if you look at every OTA tv station running Antenna HDTv channels classic Tv , most of that content classic Tv is screen gems! http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Screen_Gems If you look at the classic Tv channels being on every 2nd tier Tv OTA , Sony pretty much has content shown every day across every regular OTA TV station in the North American Tv market. Thats a pretty big deal, since pretty much all US Tv stations now have a classic Tv channel!

Man, this is the first time I am hearing about this deal. Looks like MS made a mistake trying to appease the cable companies and stick to that old model. Of course, I'm sure they didn't want to have the extra headache when cable companies inevitably push back against this new "cable" method. Sony, however, looks willing to face that. They also must be seeing the writing on the wall that people like streaming their movies and TV shows at their convenience. I read that apparently Sony is trying to come up with a ~100 channel package for their TVs and the PS4. If they can pull it off, and it is a reasonable price, I think I'll cancel my Dish service and switch to that.
I'm also guessing that is going into that $2B loss for the year. And why is the loss news, anyway? I thought Sony already reported last quarter that they expect a loss this year, mostly from restructuring from the sale of PC and the spin-off of TV? Or is it larger than they originally said?

For 1 question? Not bad at all.. Its actually in euro cents.. Now say 50 travel agencies in the US want that information for 50 countries.. And it takes google like 5 minutes to send that data. The information google has on you is more the you would think. I have no doubt they know my taste in music, have a macbook and iphone, like movies, my favorite food and know my shoe size
I know for a fact that here in the netherlands 1 database with around 1 million user data supports an entire company of 150 people..

The problem is most of the loss isn't coming from the reestructuring but from bad sales on phones... besides being the first time ever it won't pay any dividend to shareholders.

Too bad for the data buyer that I never am prey for their marketing... I refuse to click in anything or be passive in my buying habits... I just open things I subscribed and when buying I go looking for what I want =] but google will have its money anyway even though it should be illegal to sell other people data.

Ah, gotcha. That sucks. I thought they were turning their phone division around. I think they posted profit the last two quarters. I guess it was only temporary. Phones might need to be the 3rd division they let go.

They posted profit, and had record selling and have strong revenue... but their cost is still high and low to mid tier phones is a drag to them... maybe they won't need to spin or cell, but will need to seriously rethink in what invest (maybe even brand some cheap and mid tier chinese phone with PS and/or walkman capabilities/brand).

This is not them getting out of smartphones, as a matter of fact it will be a increase in investment, but not in the phone part of it itself, but a certain part of the smartphone.
After this write down, you can bet where the investment is going now.
They are just going to go more premium models, and cut on more mid tier smartphones, now they will not sell as many, but on the same token any that they will sell will be in profit. Even if its only 10 million a year it will still generate profit! But the Camera Cmos investment will be increased with the cuts in mid tier production, and switched to larger CMOS R&D.

I AM BOLO
