Forums - Nintendo - Putting Sales aside - Do you consider the 3DS a better handheld than the DS was?

Which have you enjoyed more?

3DS 193 66.32%

DS 68 23.37%

I'm still digging into the libraries of both, but so far, I've had way more fun with the 3DS library than the DS. It seems like the DS had a large quantity of great games, but the 3DS's smaller library has more amazing games. So 3DS quality > DS quantity for me.

I agree with those that say it'll be a more fair comparison at the end of the 3DS lifespan, though. Maybe someone will resurrect this thread at that time.

It'll be awhile before I figure out how to do one of these. :P

3DS is a beast of a machine, but I still prefer the original DS more.

Can you even list ten games from it that were great?

6. Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon

5. Animal Crossing: New Leaf

4. SMT IV

3. Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time

He meant the DS.

Even Easier...

6. GTA: Chinatown Wars

5. Super Mario DS

4. Chrono Trigger

Your entire argument just became irrelevant.

I never disagreed with the quantity of quality games. I had a post here somewhere stating that the DS had better games than 3DS. But only reason why that's so is because DS has been out for almost a good 7 years (November 21, 2004 Release Date) while the 3DS has been out only 3 1/2 years (March 27, 2011 Release Date). It completely not fair to compare a console that's had a ton of time for games to come out for it versus a relatively young console that we probably haven't even seen the best of.

Plus, you can't play all those games I've mentioned on a standard DS. Some of them need the DSi in order to work.

Give the 3DS an extra 3 1/2 years, your telling me NDS will still have a better library than the 3ds if they had the same timeframe to work with?

We are not even mentioning the 3ds streetpass capabilities, the improvements to the DS OS, web browsing, addiction of appz, connection to the Wii U, addiction of the Mii's ETC.

It's like comparing PS3 to PS4. If your gonna judge it solely on games, PS3 would be the better console by a Landslide.
