Forums - Nintendo - Walmart Lists a Special Smash Bros Wii U Amiibo Starter Pack

So it's better to get the game and three figurines that you will like, instead of this starter pack.

what in the hell is an Amiibo and how is it different from all the other game-related figures that I don't need or want?

It lets summon a cpu in helper in local multiplayer to tag team against your opponent. You can also train them as your own virtual pet fighter and let them challenege against each other or even yourself. They can go up to level 50 and recognize player's attack patterns. They will also work with Mario Kart 8, Toad treasure tracker, Yoshi Wolly World, and Mario Party 10. Those features are not detailed yet.

They also look cool and look nice on your desk or near your video game collection.

Here's a closer look of them: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=MQ9rpGzlQYQ

Nintendo still needs to explain what it is they do, what you said must be just one of the more things. From E3 it also sounded that each game specific figurine would have different features, but all of them would have standard amiibo state for all the games... at least that is what I understood.

Unfortunately, I wouldn't get my hopes up for any more amiibos features for Smash Bros if it hasn't impressed you yet. I'm going to buy a Link if its on sae for under 10$ because it looks cool and I love to train against a level 50 CPU when I don't want to play online or can't find people to play with locally.

But they definitely need to go over amiibo function for games other than Smash if they're going to preach that a lot.
