I will put this thread of yours in my "Most interesting thread of the hour list". So far your thread is the only one there.

Ahh, thanks.

I'd rather have those threads than insiderp

I don't know about that.  Weren't they closer to the PS4's numbers than VGC's when Sony last announced them?  I thought they were, anyway.

Can we please though? Hourly data is getting used way too much, and really doesn't mean as much as people think.

But but but, it was fine when we were using it for PS4.

If I recall correctly, those who used it for PS4 were either using monthly/yearly numbers or just bringing up hourly sales in threads that were already started using hourly sales to show the XBO ahead.  Though, you can point me to some threads if that isn't the case.

That would be boring, right?

Bet with Xander XT:

I don't know if that's the case or not, people can use Amazon hourly if they want. I assume this thread was just made because Xbox was above the PS4 a few times this past week (Base model PS4) and Destiny on Xbox One being above the PS4 version? Of course now all is back to normal since the free game promotion is over (xbone currently down to 20 spot.

Like I said it's not that big of a deal for it to be banned, does it paint the whole picture of the sales situation on PS4? of course not I'm sure most reasonable people expect Destiny to sell more on PS4 and push more hardware on PS4.  So in short I agree with you, hourly numbers shouldn't be taken that seriously.

Oh, yes, you got me.  It's just that XBO was on top for an hour or two and I can't stand it.  Lol, seriously?  You're going to go with the console war defence?

No, my peeve is that these people are using the hourly bestsellers, when those numbers mean next to nothing if it isn't sustained, and creating thread after thread.  It just gets annoying.  Like I said, if they want any credibility they should take a gander at the monthly/yearly numbers.

Um, no, that was a question I was asking. Like I said I agree with you that hourly sales don't mean much, I'm sure the people making those threads are probably just happy to see the Xbone high up on the Amazon charts for once.

Just because insiderp guessed a couple of things right doesn't mean that they are credible. In the same article they said TLOU R sold 1.5 million in 24 hours. Don't cherry pick.

I agree we shouldn't be having major threads about how the position changed +/- every hour, but I like them as a general reference. We can see the reactions right after announcements & such.

VGC is all about deducing early numbers so I don't think we should ban that kind of thing or any kind of data source really. Can we ban ban requests? j/k please don't ban me though

Sounded more like an accusation than a question.  But, w/e, not important.  Anyway, it's fine to be happy, but to make a thread ALMOST EVERYTIME it hops up a few spots is a bit much and just clutters the board.
