Forums - Politics - Why is the American government/ Empire so keen on war all the time?

War economy, war is a big business and you some every now and then you need a little war/conflict somewhere for someone really rich to make more money on people killing each other convinced by propaganda

Completely agreed.

Similar to WW2. We should have just let Hitler do his thing. Starting conflict and war with Germany was bad for America.

Love this mind-set. We would all be living under Hitlers thumb by now.Can you imagine delving into the german language and no freedom of speech.

Yup, that was totally not worth it.

You know, the problem with terrorists and dictators is they dont know when to stop. They just keep going. At some point it becomes too late to stop them and then we get something like Genghis Khan. Bet those debts were really big deals versus genocide.

Because if you let ISIS go, then the region just festers with terrorists having free reign to do whatever, and so they coordinate and plan the next 9/11.

The world is too interconnected now to just write off one region, let it completely go to shit and say "it's okay, it doesn't effect us at home." It will, it will just take time to come home to roost.

Now, this doesn't mean you can just go in, guns a blazing, kill stuff and think that will solve the problem either, but action is needed. Thoughtful action.

Just an FYI, my comment is 100% sarcasm lol.

I didn't fund anything related to ISIS or ISIL whatever they go by now. Also touche about Americans using hit and run tactics against the British in our fight for freedom

Tax money, thus you funded it or at least your parents...

Considering I don't have a job I couldn't fund it, and it's not like the American people are given a choice on how that tax money is spent.

So you've never bought anything in your life? Saying you don't have a choice isn't the same as not doing it at all.

Also you can't consider hit and run cowardly. It takes courage to fight in almost any situation

Well, this isn't true.

Because it's not the American government it's the shadow government who run america, Obama is a puppet, America is funding ISIS, you wanna be asking the American Government why they have shut down the Mexican boarder and are letting in illegals!! This is just the beginning of the collapse of the united states, none of this is coincidental, don't be surprised when ISiS show up in America, all planned.

Because we act as a world police force?
Whether people agree with it or not, many countries in the world, even in the Middle East, have trade and alliance contracts with the U.S, that allows it to build armies to fight other peoples conflicts.

Germany is a prime example. The us can build bases there and station troops, and return, Germany can't build a large army or invest in armaments that would be considered too powerful. In the end, Germany profits the most by having a limited military budget.

It's just how it works. Also, the UN has an official statement that killing unarmed civilians is considered a war crime. The U.S uses it for the justification of Iraq, Afghanistan, and now ISIS. You just need a basic understanding of current politics.

I understand how it works i just don't agree with it because of the double standards and hypocrisy.

War is great for distracting the local populace from the failings and offenses of their own government by uniting them against an enemy real or imagined.

Also, its worth noting that America is just great at war and few nations that are so capable stop of their own accord without some sort of challenge to their military supremacy.

Hopefully both America and China will be rendered unable to engage in voluntary warfare by keeping each other in check. Worse case they go back to the proxy wars of the Cold war.

Surely that distraction can only work for so long. America has been in and out of war since the First gulf war now. The 80's weren't that peaceful but was peace in comparision to since then

I am unsure myself as to how effective war as a distraction is and for how long using war as a distraction can work. I do believe their are a few clear examples throughout history where war has effectively united a local populace against a perceived external threat.

Still, if a government wants such a distraction they may try no matter the effectiveness or consequneces.
