| Euphoria14 said: I keep seeing this "massive cost" argument thrown around but I never understand it. It is as if people think iPhones cost $700, when in fact with a plan something like a Galaxy S5 costs $200 and a iPhone 6 also costs $200. Without a plan the Galaxy S5 costs $799.99 and iPhone 6 without a plan costs $799.99. iPhones are also no doubt one of the most high quality built phones you can buy , inside and out with the most well optimized OS which in turn causes apps and games to run better on them than any other device, despite their so called "inferior specs". I feel too many people get too caught up looking at specs and not the real world performance of all these devices on the market. Much of these Android devices come packaged with pre-installed bloatware that bogs down performance and they cannot be deleted unless you dabble into the world of rooting. iPhones always comes with a clean OS. Do yourself a favor and go check the benchmarks for various smartphones and see how iPhone 5s came ahead almost always. Heck there are many benchmarks where the 5S beats out the Galaxy S5. Expect iPhone 6 to be no different, especially in regards to mobile gaming. Android OS will never be as well optimized as iOS can and that is why specs mean very little when comparing any of these devices. |
I guess in ways it's sort of like console gaming to PC gaming, if you were to look at the Wii specs on paper and consider starting a game on its 84mb of RAM in terms of a PC needing to run a bulky OS + Game there isn't a real way you can compare the 2 things next to each other.
That said tho, you have to admit with what is inside the iPhones and generally most apple products on a simple hardware point of view is not equal to the end price tag, this can be deflected by suggesting that the OS runs the hardware more streamlined... but of course that means that a large portion of the price is for the Apple brand and OS not an actual hardware upgrade.

Massive cost? What are you talking about exactly? An iPhone costs about as much as any other smart phone with similar specs. Insults aside, the main point of the image is a rebuttal (using hardware and software specs) to counter a silly picture that's nothing more than flamebait. And don't get pissy with me, I didn't make the image.
I am the Playstation Avenger.

"EA exec" needs to lay off the powder and look again.

If you copy paste something as a post on here you are using it to convey a message, if I were to go around wearing a tshirt that said I hated some ethnicity I would hardly attempt to claim I am not insulting someone by wearing it because someone else had stitched the shirt for me. You are responsable for what you post on here if you find it "pissy" that someone calls up one of your posts that isn't my fault.
If you think someone is flamebaiting btw, report it, don't flame them... That just gets you reported.

so is the ea exec really saying a fashion icon(yes that is all it is) is as powerfull as the xbox and ps4, But it does show what is wrong with ea games lately if one of the execs thinks a mobile phone is as powerful as the xbox and ps4, its a good thing ea dont bring out a console
old skool

iPhone 6 hardware is an obvious upgrade from the 5S and as I already pointed out, specs mean very little when the older iPhone 5S beats out the Galaxy S5 in many benchmark tests. Yes, your Wii comparison makes some sense. Android is the PC with the same and/or better specs that runs the same software worse since the OS is a big resource hog. Android phones have beefier stats, but they are needed just to keep the performance at the same level as the "inferior" iPhones. Those bigger CPUs don't translate into anything of real worth to the end user when compared to what is in the iPhone. Don't be shocked if the iPhone 6 beats out all these Android phones in all the benchmarking tests.
They don't only pay for the brand. They pay for much higher premium build quality in terms of hardware and software. Apple creates the OS and they fine tune it as best as they possibly can. Samsung, HTC, etc... take an open sourced OS, put a new coat of paint on it and slap in into the phone without fine tuning it. They pay for glass and aluminum instead of plastic.
So yes, in a way you are right that they pay for the OS, which is perfectly justified. It is part of the reason why I switched from Android (Only did so because my Galaxy S1 broke and the S3 was delayed and I needed a phone) and that switch ended up being the best decision I made. It's simple, it's fast, it does everything I need it to do and it does it extremely well.
I now have two iPhone 6 on pre-order. Finally upgraded our devices after 2 1/2 years.
I don't hate Android though, don't get me wrong. I just prefer iPhones due to just feeling like a more quality product all around.
iPhone = Great gaming device. Don't agree? Who cares, because you're wrong.

Ignore the red portion of this image and the use of the word "Fandroid", but the rest of it is on point. Nothing worse than people trying to make a comparison and end up looking totally foolish when doing so.

Android users are all about specs because they're pissed their phones don't run as good and are less stable. It's all they have. Poor souls.
