The only market that the PS4 has been consistently performing well in is Europe and bringing up Japan numbers would be pitiful FWIW.

Being unstable in an important market is just asking for trouble ...

4M in 10 months is not unstable lol it is together with Wii the fastest selling console ever in US.

Yet it can't even consistently meet a monthly minimum of 250K in North America ...

Your spin didn't changed a FACT.

It is overperforming yet... come back when it started to underperforming

A hint... it won't be next month because it will do over 500k easily.

best its averaging 246k a month for the year, sept will of course skew thing north of that.

What underperforming..

Why don't you go take a look at 2014 numbers instead including launch numbers to strawman my point ...

Lol, sorry, but now I just have to laugh at those downplaying these numbers.  It's starting to look a little desperate.  And why compare the PS4 with the Wii?  Only because it makes it look worse?  I think I know the answer to that, but let me ask you one more question.  Was the Wii the market leader in the US?  NO!  That honor goes to the 360.  So, why don't we look at the 360's sales in the US after launch compared to the PS4s:

              360                                    PS4
Nov. 2005 ~ 326k          Nov. 2013 ~ 1.14M
Dec. 2005 ~ 281k          Dec. 2013 ~ 863K
Jan. 2006 ~ 249k           Jan. 2014 ~ 271K
Feb. 2006 ~ 161k           Feb. 2014 ~ 285K
Mar. 2006 ~ 192k          Mar. 2014 ~ 371K
Apr. 2006 ~ 295k            Apr. 2014 ~ 199K
May 2006 ~ 221k           May 2014 ~ 197K
Jun. 2006 ~ 277k            Jun. 2014 ~ 269K
Jul. 2006 ~ 206k             Jul. 2014 ~ 187K
Aug. 2006 ~ 204k          Aug. 2014 ~ 190K
Sep. 2006 ~ 260k

Ok, so that's a total of ~2.7M after 11 months for the 360 vs. ~4M for the PS4 in 10 months.  I even gave the 360 an extra month, however, that is for another reason.  You see, September is Destiny month.  PS4 is going to KILL the 360's 260K.  At least by ~2x.  Which means it would beat the Wii's 1st September, which was 501K.  That would also mean it would beat the PS2's, too.  Well, technically, I couldn't find its Sept 2001 numbers, but in 2002 it sold ~500K, so I assume they were probably close to the same.  Again, cherrypicking a few months, and only pitting it against a couple of consoles, just reeks of desperation.

That looks like five fairly underwhelming months for the PS4 in a row. But I guess no one should mention that because it might ruffle a few feathers.

The 360 was not the market leader, that would be the Wii. Why don't you put the Wii's first year up next to the PS4?

Lol, your bias is showing.  You COMPLETELY ignored where September is going to make up for that AND most likely beat THE WII's AND PS2'S first September.  You know, the only consoles you can compare the PS4 to to say its doing poorly, even though the PS4 is still ahead of them currently.

PS4: ~4m

Wii is right now ~30k ahead but it will be below PS4 again next month because Destiny will make PS4 do more than 500k.

PS4 is a monster... I know.

The Wii was definitely a monster alright, but the statistics of the decline for the PS4 are not easy to ignore. In fact, if you gave this to a statistician they'd tell you that a bridge is on fire. Its consistent and visible, and you can see that even the front-loaded sales were overcome by the Wii within a few months AND it maintained a much stronger baseline. The Destiny blimp is nothing more than exactly that, a blip.

In fact, since we want to look at this statistically long-term, then the trend would very, very much devalue that huge launch spike and make the PS4 curve project much, much worse than the Wii's almost flat line. The trajectories of these consoles are, given current data, not even remotely similar. In fact, every console this gen has a trajectory right into a shrinking market. (Not to mention that the PS4 has utterly failed in Japan...)

Odd day for me to be on Soundwave's side of the fence but the statistics are impossible to ignore for someone who works with statistics.

I think you're acting like a child that can't deal with someone saying Santa Claus isn't real or something.

Just for reference sake though I got pretty the same reaction from some Nintendo fans on this board a while ago when I said there were some serious red flags with the 3DS evident in lulling sales numbers, but I got the same "BUT BUTU BUT, it already has sold 20 millionz! When Pokemon X/Y/Z comes out sales will go to the supernova". Reality: 3DS sales actually went down year over year even with Pokemon because of actual market trends, which I and a few others here identified quite early in the game but took a lot of heat for pointing out because hell hath no fury like a fanboy who's just had his cheerleading pom-poms spurned.

PS4 is out pacing PS2 according to NDP.  Its at 4m same as wii.  Its literally going toe to toe with the two sale sgaints of gmaing, ever.

There have been numbers posted in the thread that show you are doing nothing but trolling.

To deny and try to spin cold hard fatcs is proof enough you are just trolling.  When PS4 dropes behind PS2 start a thread about it how its underpreforming, right now you are just a fool arguing reality.

By the way you are the biggest fanboy in this entire thread, not only that you are a moron to boot.

I said 190k for a first August as a market leader is underwhelming.

So stop putting words into my mouth. If you're going to have an arguement at least know what you're arguing about.

The Wii's first September was just ... September, nothing special or no big game released for it, and it still crushed 500k, which is bloody incredible by the way.

Because the console launched? It happened to sell at launch... it was not a ilusion.

why do you get to cherry pick numbers to suit your needs while he cant ?

facts is they are even at 4m while when they sold that really matters little to the reality of the fact.

Ouch.

Good post.  And I completely ignored where he said the 360 wasn't ahead.  I could have sworn he was a 360 fan, so I figured he would have known that.
